Finally, I can demonstrate to the good people here that I'm not quite as stupid as I look. This is because only having oil-stones and wood-backed home-made strops, this gear is unlikely to get the edge sharp enough for my face. So instead, I volunteered to shave my wife's legs.
Prep was only covering the legs with hot-water soaked towels for 2 minutes, a rather thin covering of normal body soap (there was no lather to speak of).
The result was rather amazing. After two passes, it really was very smooth. I only gave her one really tiny nick near her knee, but it was painless and had very little bleeding. She was absolutely thrilled and said her legs had never ever felt that nice. She wants me to do it again next weekend. OK, maybe I am as silly as I look.
Edit added to cover FireStart's next post: Unfortunately, the avatar image is only in my dreams. I actually have to get our house professionally relevelled annually since my wife spends more time on one end. But, on a brighter note she gets a Christmas Card each year from the local university's seismology department.Last edited by omniphile; 08-08-2006 at 12:37 AM.

If your avatar is your wife's pic, I'd turn shaving her legs into a daily ritual if I were you Imagine how thrilled she'll be once you refine your edges with some good waterstones. It's also a great way to further develop trust and physical closeness with her.

Fine shave. Sucks to be up at 6am, but the morning shave always makes it worthwhile.

Firstart,
There is no doubt that X deserved that razor. But just because he deserved it doesn't mean we have to like it. Or him!

And the USPS is notorious for losing stuff in transit, right Ed?
