Summary: I had grown a scruffy beard this week so decided to take my EPBD for a spin. Man, had I forgotten how great of a shave that baby can deliver. It cut through my beard like a walk in the park with so much ease. Combined with the excellent lather properties of Martin De Candre soap. BBS all the way. Not one micron leftover hair left. This was definitely one of those shaves that makes you smile.

Lovely day and a lovely shave, the freshly cut Rose perks of the job looking after my neighbours house and garden while she's away in Australia. After cutting the Rose using it in the photo, then later in a very caculating way I hand the Roses to my wife as a romantic gesture, then I can do no wrong for the entire weekend, result!

Notes: It's a shame I don't take the time to überlather more often. Thick, rich cushion of lather, tempered by the scuttle throughout the long, smooth and comfortable shave. Wonderfully BBS.

Good Sunday Gentlemen.

My shave today was a slow and gentle one. I started with some classic music, Rachmaninov`s piano conserto No. 2, softened my bird with hot water, stropped the straight with care while listening to the stunning beauty of Rachmaninov`s inner thoughts given to us all through the Steinway piano.

I love the smell and performance of the Castle Forbes Lime, and pulled it out of the shaving den. As usual I had loaded the large Shwartzweisskeramik XL scuttle with almost boiling water. A two band Shavemac 26 mm D01 made the softest, delicious lather, and my snakewood Thiers-Issard 6/8 did a great job giving me a supersmooth face after three passes with touchups. It is a truly luxurious feeling when you touch your face trouble spots feeling nothing at all except smooooth skin:)

Finished off with Fitjarsoaps Miklagard aftershave cream and a large cup of Kenya AA coffee listening to the last tones of a personal favorite concerto.

Had a great shave this morning. I purchased the razor off ebay. This is one scary sharp critter. Nicked myself a few shaves before I got my technique in place. The ingredients are eShave this morning.

Two points worthy of comment?

1) This is my first Sunday straight shave!

Just out of habit I continued to use my DE on Sundays. This was because of my fear, in the early learning days, of perhaps having to go to church with one of my ears hanging off! :rofl2:

2) I found an interesting tip on the Internet (So it must be true!! :banghead:) of rubbing a couple of drops of GFT skin food onto the surface of the shaving soap prior to loading the brush. This not only softens the dry soap but the glycerin helps the lather.

End result.......an amazing shave.

PS: How do you like the MdC Lavende? I find it a bit too strong and "too pure" (if this makes sense)...I personally prefer their Limette and Vetyver.

(2) That is a very interesting tip. My 2 cents: If it's the glycerin that helps the soap, then why not just add 2 drops of glycerin on top of soap? Should achieve the same results.

This custom RV brush whipped up one of nicest lathers I have come to appreciate out of my top 5 soaps - a bowl full of incredibly moist, thick, shiny and sticky rich bed of snowy white suds :y. Of course, such an incredible lather requires nothing but an equally matched razor to complement it. Hence the reason to reach for the Filarmonica (I refreshed her edge using my Y/G Escher stone). Tried the Feather popular today with the included feather blade. It was not a good experience. The razor is very lite and not real aggressive, I found myself using pressure, and pressure doesn't agree with feather blades. Only managed 1 rough pass, and quickly switched to the Vision with a perma-sharp blade to save the day. Managed an acceptable shave in only 2 passes as going for a third pass would likely magnify the damage that already took place. Thankfully Tet-aTet ASB feels very soothing.

I managed a decent round of golf, especially considering my hiatus..

Heh, that's kinda funny about the MdC EdT's. I'm basically quite the opposite.
I seem to prefer the Lavender scent over the Vetyver. Both are very good, but the Lavender strikes a chord with the Mrs as well, so that kinda settles it over here:)
I've never tried the Limette, but thought I should get that the next time I order from them.
Should be pretty soon, the sampler soaps I got with my last purchase was so darn good, I gotta have more of it:)

I was out of town at my college class's 40th alumni reunion this weekend. Forty years! My how time flies. I had to pack my Dopp kit for travel, so I thought I would try a shave stick for the first time. Wowzers! This DRH Arlington is really nice. Lathers easily and has a refreshingly fragrant scent. I’m a believer now. It will be a regular part of my travel kit from now on.

Yesterday's Greaves swipes were so effective, I waited for an afternoon Sunday shave!
