Default Back from the UK RazorCon:)

Pre-Shave: A good long shower after traveling home from the RazorCon
    Brush: Shavemac Silbertip D01, 25mm
Razor: Robert Williams Custom, 8/8" French tip in blond Horn
Strop: Neil Miller Cordovan Shell with Linen.
    Soap/Cream: Czech & Speake 88 shaving soap
    Scuttle:Schwarzweisskeramik, Large White
    Astringent: Osma Alum

Quick shave using my Taylor's Eyewitness 1000 and Bath House Spanish Fig & Walnut. Great Lather. Wish the aroma was a bit stronger for my weak nose, but still excellent nonetheless!

Thanks Grant. I would equate work right now to learning to hone, there is a lot of looking at things through a microscope, trying to figure out what it is you are seeing and then continuing in hopes of reaching the desired outcome

Simple vacation shave today, shot and posted with my phone.

    Pre-shave: Hot shower
    Brush: Simpson Berkeley
    Razor: Boker King Kutter 5/8
    Strop: Legion Kanga-moo
    Soap: La Toja stick
    Aftershave: La Toja ASB
Result: A very pleasant shave indeed, the Boker never fails, neither does La Toja, even thought I prefer splashes this balm is one of the few I find quite nice.

With only my phone and a extremly poor internet connection it would take a tremeneous amount of time to comment, and even press the "like" button on every single amazing SOTD, so here's a big hail to all of you.

Thanks for sharing all these great shaves, keep up the good work!

    Monday Night

    Seehund 5/8 - Tabac - Omega 81052 - Alum - Gillette ASB - C&E West Indian Lime Cologne

My 3 year anniversary of quitting smoking, so I thought it appropriate to use a soap which shares its name with the French word for tobacco!

To be honest the cologne is tomorrows fragrance while and the Gillette ASB is suitable for my skin overnight.
    Regards
    Nic

I haven't mentioned it, but those beautiful Japanese (folding) straights you have posted in SOTD made me jump on an NOS Japanese straight on eBay the other day...
Thank you buddy and congrats on the Japanese straight. Can't wait 'til you feature her soon. Which did you get (if you don't mind me asking)?

    Sten,
No one here will blame you for adoring this blade. She's quite the looker and if looks could kill, she wouldn't even have to touch your face for the whiskers to just fall and die. Well done. We could use some rain in SoCal...send some of it our way, will you?

Got a balsa strop in the mail today. Packed badly , so it was broken in half, but one part was still usable. It really did the trick, a fine edge became even better...
Man, that blows!!! Can you get a replacement because of the packing? That just breaks my heart, but congrats for making good use of it though. It is a marvelous piece of unassuming wood.

Well... the result was a not too pleasant of a shave. I found, while sharp, the razor just didn't feel like it wanted to tackle my beard

The CS soap also has now totally lost my interest (thanks Fitjar )), the lather was good and thick but under the razor it felt sticky and didn't have the cushion I have become accustom to.

At least if I get all the mediocrity and frustration out of the way today the rest of the week has no choice but to be an improvement.
    Ouuuch Dunc,
Looks like Murphy has targeted you for a visit this time. Seems like whatever you chose went wrong one way or another. As far as the razor, I am wondering if the edge rather than the blade may be at fault. Not sure what pressed wool is but if it's anything like wool felt, then it may be a bit too rough for the edge to be used with CrOx (just my 2 cents). I would suggest CroX on leather or balsa strop (very light touch). AMAZING results

I had heard a lot of folks complain abou teh CS soaps/cremes...They just don't seem to have the oomph so to speak.

I like the way you turn a negative experience into a positive outlook though...That's exactly how one should think about these things. Well done...My hat's off to you buddy

    Wowww Birnando,
You got the C&S 88...How did you like it? Ain't the performance grand? Not crazy about scent yet (what about you?), although it is slowly growing on me. Glad you had a great time in RazorCon, but I agree nothing beats one's own shave den. +1 on Neil Miller.

    Tim,
Awesome shot buddy. Trust me...that Spanish fig has a pretty strong scent. Don't worry, your olfactory sense will soon get 150% better and you'll be able to enjoy this in all her glory. It does have wonderful lather and cushion.
