Despite the fact that Fitjar are also making a shave soap (tallow), they are rightfully more famous for their shave creams. The cream is quite thick in constitution but can be picked up from the tub with a few swirls of the brush. However and from my experience one needs to be careful with the cream/water ratio mix. This cream needs a bit more water than usual. Today I used the SWK XL scuttle and bowl lathered for the first time after many months, especially because of that cream.

In my personal and subjective opinion, the Fitjar creams are up right there right in the top primarily because of their skin-conditioning properties. The moisturizing (during the sgave) but also the after shave skin softness effect and conditioning this creams provide are hard to beat.

As I have been straight shaving solidly for only a couple of months now, I will refrain from expressing a solid opinion on the slickness, glide and cushion effects of the lather - the cream performed very well in those areas today though. In addition, I did get the lather almost right today and can tell you that I had one of the best/smoothest and most enjoyable shaves for quite some time, my face now (10 hours after the shave) feels soft, smooth and properly moisturized.

Last but not least, special mention has to be made for the 'natural' feeling of their creams as well. From my personal and subjective opinion, these products are very kind to the skin, it is very unlikely one will be feeling any 'burn' like other creams sometimes give to the skin. At the same time, they do that by assisting for a great shave with excellent performance in a number of areas, as mentioned above. And this is not easy to achieve.

Get the cream/water mix right, and you won't be disappointed.
Thank you for your great info. How are the scents?

Hot shower / OBR Bath Soap / Col. Conk Shave soap / Challenge Razor Works 6/8 barber notch / Alum / Pinaud Clubman

Just a quick shower and shave tonight, was in a little bit of a rush. Never rush your shave though. I did not, and it was great. This razor is another one of my rescues that turned out to be a super shaving razor. LarryAndro honed this baby for me, and it will remove ears and noses without pain!!! Not without blood though, never met an edge that sharp yet! LOL.

I've never tried Conk before, and I was really pleasantly surprised by the richness of the lather, and the clean fresh scent. 3 passes and almost BBS. Not quite, but none the less pretty darn close.

I loved the Pinaud. It is rather strong, but I liked it. It reminded me of my grandpa. No burn to it after the Alum either, just a nice strong, barber shop type of scent. Beautiful shave.

Have a great evening all!! (Love this place!)

    You're welcome. Scents are:

    - Neroli: as the word says and as you could possibly imagine, Spanish (bitter) orange peel combined with a woody mix. Their after shave cream follows likewise in scent. Generally speaking this particular Fitjar scent is not awkwardly strong.
    - Folgefonn mint: Mint, potent mint, away from the eucalyptus/mint Proraso or SMN scent combo. Fairly strong stuff. If you try (or buy) their after shave balsam be forewarned that this is powerful stuff. It will cool your face after a shave as if you had put a few ice cubes on it, very strong; can easily create tears off your eyes when you press the dispenser to get some of the balm out and rub it in your hands before applying.
    - Fjellheim: Typical Norwegian scent, pine, woods, forest, some more pine, etc. I bought it because it is actually something different scent-wise and Norwegians seem to love this scent.

Whatever you decide to go with, you won't be disappointed.

    Great posts.

I have been bouncing back and forth between the Fjellheim and Lighthouse bay rum scents and like them both (soaps). I have found them to be light scents that don't really jump out at you although the bay rum is more obvious than the Fjellheim.
I wonder if the creams have a stronger scent? I guess I will eventually have to pick a tub of cream up to try.
