Awesome pics and kits as usual gentlemen. Its always a pleasure to look through the SOTD thread, and hopefully I will be back on the bandwagon soon as work is finally giving me some breathing room.

Robert with the DE!!! Wow. I really want to give the Eucris a try next. I love the look of that black bowl and the scent sounds intriguing. Is it more potent than the Spanish Fig & Nutmeg? I broke that soap out today and I could hardly smell it. Darn Nose If anyone has been interested in trying the Spanish Fig & Nutmeg soap I'd be up for a trade. I think my damaged olfactory senses just don't pick this one up like they should. The cologne is great though.

I definitely get better shaves when I wait an extra day between them. This is my 3rd day straight with my straights and I had some irritation. Maybe I need to run the Bismarck over the coticule again. Nothing terrible, but not the smooth experience I'm used to with my red Bismarck.

Nice to see some of your straight guys like Robert giving a DE shave now and again, adds a nice bit of variety to the show, meaning maybe some of us DE guys may have to step up to the plate and give the old straight edge a go. great looking straights on show today, and WOW! there's a custom job over on the restorations that's blown my mind, here's the link for those who missed it.

    Default Wednesday afternoon

    Pre-Shave: A cold shower
    Brush: Vulfix 38mm!!, Super Badger
Razor:Charlie Lewis, 8/8" Custom. Mammoth Ivory scales
    Strop: Kanayama #90000, tri-strop
Soap/Cream: Domenico Caraceni 1913 shaving cream
    Scuttle:Schwarzweisskeramik, Large White
    Astringent: Thayers Medicated SuperHazel
    EdT: Domenico Caraceni 1913
Results: A very fine shave indeed. The DC is such an awesome cream. The scent is perhaps a little too much for summer time, but the performance is so good that I frankly don't care

    Hey Tim,
The Eucris is a great scent...different than the Spanish Fig/Nutmeg, which I equally love. Give the senses some time to recover. it's a worthwhile wait.

PS: Great Bismarck and shave...I am sure that taking the edge back to the stone will bring her back to life

Hehehe...Thanks Jamie. I look forward to you stepping up to that straight plate.

SPECTACULAR show today Dom...Love that custom and I guess we have a new MdC addict in the midst. Now, we certainly need a 24 step program for that too...and yes, I know, I will be the first one to register for that

It really does feel like a Str8 shave!!! The limes and coconut mix smelled like Key lime pie. Simply fantastic and whip cream like. Great shave and love all the pics. Lots of big blades out there so I'll have to go back for a heavy Thurs!!!
Wonderfully done Paul...especially after that heavy duty day. Can't wait for your tomorrow's show

No razor honing today but I did use my new found skills to restore and sharpen the knife. I bought it about 30 years ago aged 11 partly as an act of rebellion towards my parents who had said I couldn't have one. I was at a friends house and we went into town, I'd saved up the money and although the guy in the shop wasn't too happy about it (he offered to let me phone my parents from the shop) I bought it. When I arrived back at my fiends house his mother saw from our faces that we'd been up to something, found out and made me ring my parents. When I got home my dad had me show him it, said they would trust me to be careful with it and gave it back to, me some rebellion huh! Over the following few years it sharpened many sticks and spend a lot of time being thrown at trees. Leaving the carbon steel blade tarnished rusting and blunt, today it is shining and sharp in a way that it hasn't been for many many years. (BTW My son is 11, I offered to buy him a Swiss Army knife he declined!)
Great story behind the knife Nic...we underestimate parents sometimes. I guess your son knows better, LOOOL

You're right Robert, she's an old girl, but oldies are the base of my collection Tomorrow I hope to shave with my newly acquired John Barber, if I can get the edge in working order.

I know , it's kinda blasphemous, sorry. But since I don't have any DE's it was either that or fronting customers with a red lightbulb on my shoulders (and I only used it to touch up a couple spots in the back of my head, I swear)
Need help or tutoring? Check out the  .
