Location: 36° 0'5"N - 115° 15' 21"W |
Razor: Fontana |
Brush: C2 - 2 band |
Soap: B&B - QED |
Astringent: Thayers Witch Hazel |
ASB: Sandalwood AOS |
EDC: B&B |
Summary: Today my shave was total bliss. The main ingredients being sandalwood and spruce. The sweetness of spruce mixed with the earthy woodsy fragrance of sandalwood. Pure heaven. The fontana razor got a nice refresh on my Karasu and gave me a very smooth shave. The 2 band badger brush from C2 is truly a great performer. It whipped up tons of lather in no time. The shave was a perfect ending of this gorgeous Saturday which I spend all day with the wife having fun. |
August is around the corner so gents, lets enjoy every day this summer has to offer and let's bring on those awesome SOTD's. |

Results: An early shave this Sunday AM. Today, I decided to debut three new things; (1) my new DOVO "Waffen Schmied", (2) My other HandAmerican strop, which I had bought some 14 months ago but used only once, and (3) the Chosera 2k/5k/10k stones (the 1k was back ordered and should receive it sometime end of August). The strop has two leather sides, one "rough", which I believe acts as the equivalent of the standard linen side (but much better and a very nice draw) and a soft cordovan horsehide shell. Like its cousin, the Pegasus III (featured yesterday), this "Old Dog" is amazinghttp://badgerandblade.com/vb/images/...ys/001_wub.gif (I think I have a new favorite strop :p). The DOVO was NOS and was purchased as a "side kick" to an extra hollow W&B which I scored (on its way to Max for his magic). I set the bevel on this beauty with the Naniwa 1k (since the Chosera 1k is back ordered), followed by the Chosera 2k, 5k, and 10k, finally finishing it on the Kiita/Asagi hybrid with slurry. The edge she took was absolutely fantastic, popping hairs (literally) mid air :tu. The Trumper/Cyril Salter combination had a heavenly Rose scent and produced some of the best, slickest and wholesomest lathers I have come to love http://badgerandblade.com/vb/images/...ys/001_wub.gif. The prep made the DOVO's job look effortless, but this razor showed no mercy and wiped the whiskers clean off my face. BBS and zero irritation :y. |

Awesome day today out shooting with Mrs Str8Shooter and Lil Gal Str8Shooter. After cleaning weapons and then finishing the scales for the Twin W&B wedge's I'm working on for Nervin and myself(shh I want it to be a secret when he is healed up from surgery) I decided to go into an earthy sandalwood coma! Great shave off the ol' 70 1/2. Looks like y'all had a great sun also. Grant you remain in my family's prayers.
Nite all I have an early work day in the morning.
Almost forgot to thank Jacketch for planting the sandalwood bug back on me!!!
