Thank you! :D She's an old lady, both with me and when manufactored, I found her in great shape, even though a bit pricey. The steel is very nice, she's a good shaver and with a wicked point :D

Pre-Shave: Hot shower Brush: 24mm Custom Shavemac D01, 2-band Silvertip Badger Razor: 13/16" Eicker & Söhne PAX #190, Full Hollow Ground, Spike Point Honing (touch up): Coticule "La Veinette" dilucot w/ light slurry + Maruichi Nakayama Kiita/Asagi Hybrid w/ tmonagura progression Strop: 0/0/0 (Neil Miller Linen / Imperial Horsehide leather / Imperial Cordovan leather) Überlather: Tabac Shave Creme + Tabac Shave Soap + Glycerin Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose, no alcohol) Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-Free Moisturizer After Shave Splash: Tabac AS Cologne: Tabac EdC Results: Today was a TABAC-orrific shave:y. This is one of the most amazing products ever made for wetshavers. The über, whipped using one of my favorite brushes, was so slick and thick that it made PAX's job (literally) effortless and moot...But this razor is not to be taken lightly. Judging by her level of flexibility and the fact that she loves to sing like a canary (even on the hones), I am willing to bet that she is probably an extra hollow . This being the assumption, I paid special attention on the hones last night, making sure that her edge was really dialed in (one of the nuances of extra hollows). After this quick but careful refresher on the stones, this beauty was absolutely "on edge" (pun intended :p) and delivered an out of this world shave:nj.

Was just outside with the dogs and thought, with the right uberlather you can even shave with a dull razor.
And then came the smile, a dull razor ... what is that thing

Fantastic lather today but the shave was just a little off. I think the edge needs a touch up so it's in the bin until I can get to the hones. Love the shaves everyone. Have a great Tues!!!

I had a nice relaxing shave in preparation for a day that holds a relatively inconsequential job interview... at least I will look sharp.
Two passes to a nice comfortable shave.
Now I need one of those delicious looking espressos that keep showing up in the SOTD.
Location: 40°46'48.93"N 73°57'47.93"W
Music: Just the sounds of Washington Heights in the AM
Razor: Toyo Scheön Burg #666
Brush: Semogue LE Boar
Soap: Martin de Candre
Astringent: Nancy Boy Clarifying Toner
AS: Nancy Boy Balm
Result: Very comfortable shave. My first positive experience with a frameback from hone to finish! These things are really neat, glad I can now get a good edge on it. I used my nagura method, watching carefully under the microscope as I went and achieved one of the best edges so far. I'm learning that with certain harder steels, my stone delivers a finer edge with the slightest of slurries as opposed to just water, and smaller shorter strokes as I finish. The blade on this frameback is shockingly thin and sings quite loudly but is stiffer than a hollow and requires an adjustment of technique. I don't normally shave in the morning but today I was rewarded with as close and comfortable a shave as I could hope for. Also, since it arrived over 2 months ago I have used MdC exclusively. I think I found what works best for me. Sorry, no photo today.
Thanks Robert :)

Some soreness because going a bit overboard with passes today, but that passed quickly.

Enjoy the evening.

King,
If those FONs are anything like the Japanese straights I am accustomed to, they're bound to be AMAZING shavers indeed...They certainly look fabulous
I keep my fingers crossed Jamie. Keep hunting my friend, Life's equation of equilibrium is always balanced. Bad luck is always accompanied by good luck. I will keep an eye out for you too buddy and if I come across anything restore worthy, I will shoot you a PM. However, I don't lurk around the bay too much, but this week I did find a few gems which I luckily scored. I am going in hibernation mode again, LOOOOL
That was easy ;-). Not much twisting of the arm. BTW: While there, check out their tallow based ones too (especially the Ltd Ed....best raw almond scent). RazoRock makes gooooood stuff my friend. I also ordered their AS Wax which I heard a lot of praise for...Just saying!!!
Still a great find Mikael...Old or otherwise. Well done buddy
Kalerolf,
Great uber, but did you seriously shave with a dull blade??!!! or are you just pulling my leg, LOL? She's a beauty though. What did the dogs think of her?
Hey Paul,
Sorry for the off-ness of the edge buddy, but great gear for sure.
Dunc,
best of luck with teh interview...Why inconsequential?
PS: beautiful Blackie...Don't see those too often
Justin,
First and foremost: it is always a pleasure seeing your posts when schedule permits. Hope all is going well in your neck of the woods
Second: That's a beautiful SB...They are amazing shavers indeed. Hard as hell steel, but very easy to hone up...
Third: Congrats on dialing in the best edge and figuring out what works best with MdC
LOOOOOOOL
Jeez bro...I guess you just can't trust that guy, LOOOOL.
We have you figured out buddy, LOOOOOOOL
Amund,
I love that Henckels too...FANTASTIC shavers with a 1st class edge. Also, very nice post shave. I have yet to try the 444, but I heard when mixed with other AS, it is amazingly moisturizing. Well done
+1 on the Pen Endymion
BIUUUUUUUUTIFUL shot Teiste
Michael,
What a nice round up today...Wowww!! Love that Diamond
Sorry about the nicks Jeff. Nice hats too. Is it for Little Jack? If so, he's gonna love them.
It ought to be Monroe...it's coming from an outstanding guy (not to mention great gear)
What a nice combination. Slant + Feather = no chance for whiskers
Fantastic, top shelf products and shave José

Can't say enough about how awesome this razor is! I gave it a few slides over the coticule and then some chromium oxide last night.
Robert ever since you posted about focusing on "zero pressure" I have been doing the same. I had definitely been pushing too hard on my face. This blade slide effortlessly down my beard with its side-kick Mdc!

The interview was easy and was basically to extend work at position higher up the chain than the one I currently occupy for an additional 2 to 4 weeks.
As for the Blackie, it is nice... although I really would like to find a vintage Blackie just so I could have a pair.

Glenn,
Love those gorgeous Masonic W&B. Nicely done and great looking blade
2-4 weeks is pretty good...it may even lead to something more permanent if they see you are cut out for it
I have seen one Blackie (7/8") that David (Bubskilz) has that I would love to find. There's not too many of that size lying around (I think)
EA,
That TI is certainly fit for a gladiator...beautiful and fabulous shave

Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: Speick Shavestick
AS: Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Finish: Crusellas Kolonia 1800 Sandalwood
Two things, first, I failed miserably at one pass discipline today. It would have been a DFS if I'd stopped there but everything was coming together so well that I decided a second pass was in order. No harm no foul I guess, my entire face is CBS. Secondly, this is probably the most underrated soap in my rotation. I don't shave with it nearly as often as I should but it has always consistently performed very well. It's affordable, lasts for a long time, smells great and gives a great lather every shave, so what's not to like?

Result: Fantastic! This was my first time making a DR Harris uberlather, and it was well worth the effort! This stuff was moist, rich and pillowy. With my face slathered with that goodness, the Filarmonica did exactly what we all know those lovely Spanish blades do! And with all this tremendous software, I was truly transported. By the time it was all said and done, I could have sworn I'd taken a wrong turn at Albuquerque and wound up in Provence instead. My face is clean as a whistle, and I smell fresh as the French countryside. Look out world!!!
