Flaschner 7/8 | Semogue 2010 LE #66 | Vetiver/Cedar Bomb | Tade Alum | Montale Patchouli Leaves
After taking yesterday off from shaving, I was very ready for today. The Vetiver and Cedar based Bomb whipped up some of the most luxurious lather to be found this side of anywhere, and the fragrance is simply divine! The Flaschner gave a smooth and comfortable two passes to BBS. My first wearing of the Patchouli Leaves. So far, I must say it is quite nice. I'm not sure it's my favorite of all patchouli fragrances, but the depth and complexity of the patchouli and the tonk a with Montale's signature our note is quite nice.
Great posts this week, gentlemen! Thank your for helping start my day out right each morning!

Thanks to you guys here I ordered Mitchells Wool Fat, Poraso pre shave cream and poraso aftershave, after a good wash I applied near boiling water to my face with my brush, then worked in a small ammount of the pre shave cream. This I must say gives the most wonderfull cool fresh feeling. Whilst I let the cream do its job I started to work the MWF, I understand now what is ment by the ammount of water it takes! Scraping the excess lather off my brush I then dipped it back in the boiling water picked up the allready worked lather and applied it to my face. It gave the most wonderfull hot creamy lather I have ever had. as I applied the lather to my face I could feel the pre shave sending my face abit numb. A good WTG pass and I was in shaving heven. I couldn't resist re applying the porasso and MWF and continued as above except XTG pass. well into my stride now I repeated all the steps above apart from doing a ATG pass. did I need it ? No not at all but I was having fun! Drying my face after and applying a good amount of poraso aftershave put the iceing on the cake. This has just been the best shave of my life so far totally BBS and not even one little nick.
A very big THANK YOU to SRP and to all you guys who exalted the vertues of these wonderfull products.
To any other newb who has not tried this stuff, go get um, give um a go, I can promise you won't be dissapointed!!!
It may be wishing my life away but "Roll on tomorrow" :)

Razor: 6/8 Dovo Best Quality
Brush: Omega Boar
Soap: Institut Karite
A/S: Pinaud Clubman
Second shaving using only the straight! Was a little heavy handed in a few spots and wound up with two very small nicks. Very smooth shave topped off with Pinaud Clubman to set the tone for the day!
Quick post about last nights shave.
I've been working a lot of hours lately, and I haven't had the energy for a real good shave lately. I went ahead and used the following configuration to get through a fast shave:
Razor: '34 Gillette DE 3 piece
Uber: TOBS Sandalwood and my V1 Georgetown Scuttle
Brush: WD Custom 20mm Silvertip
Post: Alum and Humphrey's Witch Hazel
AS: Pinaud Clubman
Edt: Stetson for men
I'm beginning to lean toward the ease of the DE shave. It's nowhere near as close a shave as with a str8, but a 3 pass is a lot more comfortable to me. These DE's are so gentle. I use the Shark Super Chromes and they perform very well. I still had some rough spots after a full 3 passes, but that just must be the nature of the beast. If I did 3 passes with my str8's, I'd hardly have any skin left. hmmmmmm.
Happy shaves men!!
Mike

As my honing skills improve (?) this razor is becoming more enjoyable to use.
I'm a newbie to straight razor shaving, but have been using DE's for the last 3 years. Until I got a brand new Dovo last Friday, I've primarily saved straight razor shaving for the weekend (and will likely return to that more often as the newness of the new toy wears off). I love both DE and straight razor shaving, so I just need to figure out what works best for me. I have to admit that using a DE on workdays makes me feel less rushed because I haven't gotten as fast with a straight as I am with a DE.
Still doing test shaving on the Livi, but honestly I think I better quit calling it that, and let the owner know she is holding the edge just fine, and maybe send her on home... :)

Great 2 pass CBS Shave today. Love this blade and the fantastic edge it takes. The EJ soap and cream is not as fantastic as the lotion but it makes for a nice mix none the less. It just does not get as much volume as I would like. (I could be spoiled:w. I blame it on Obie and Robert)
Have a great thurs all!
Paul
@ Robert: Your seating is reserved, the best seat to view the fireworks.
@Nic: My condolences, I am the comptroller for a Real Estate Developer four years ago I had 2400 condo units in inventory and selling fast…now nothing moves…its just like selling A/C units in Nome, Alaska. I’ll drink a beer celebrating your sale.
@Nicknbleeding: The Dec 2012 is the Mayan End-of-the-World date…they were smarter and had a calendar; whereas Harold Camping uses a dartboard for his predictions. HOG

Jeff,
Sorry to hear about uncle Nick's visit, but it happens...it gets better though...waaaaaaay better
Mike,
Great shave buddy but I hope you are not going to give up on str8s altogether. My guess is you're probably using too much pressure
Hmmmmm...Hope you're not dining with Hannibal Lector (with you being dinner), LOOOOOOL. Just yanking your chains Kalerolf. Great shave and hope you had a great dinner.
Fantastic job Oscar...Congrats on your honing skills. Keep at it, it only gets more fun from here on out.
You just can't let go, eh Glen, LOOOOOOL? These Livi's can certainly hold a heck of a sharp edge...sometimes too sharp, I think.
Who? moi? I am innocent and plead the 5th, LOOOOOOL
Coooooool. See ya tomorrow ;-)
