This razor is one of the best shavers I have despite it's sad shape. Someone at some point did a grind job on the tang, removing metal in a random sort of way and leaving only the word "HOLT" to reveal it's origins. It may not be pretty but it functions at a very high level.
ETA I haven't been able to participate much for a few days as my DIL, who is eight months pregnant, is in the hospital with pneumonia and a collapsed lung. Her acid reflux got the better of her. She is doing better and the baby is fine thankfully.Last edited by Jacketch; 11-04-2011 at 07:59 PM.

Thanked: 485Saturday
Saturday is DE day as always. A very nice shave. Used the Crabtree and Evelyn Nomad by itself. It’s good for a DE shave but not, in my opinion, adequate for a straight razor shave. I followed the shave with a cold water splash; normally I splash warm water, but it’s getting hot now. It’s going to be 35 today, which is hot for Spring. Very soon I’ll be eyeing the heavily wooded hills around here and worrying about bush fires.
I can’t wait until I get my new razor and my new aftershaves (Pinaud Clubman and Dominica Bay Rum). It takes soooo long to get stuff posted here; normally about a month...
Razor : Mühle R 89 Pre Shave: Proraso Soap: Crabtree and Evelyn Nomad ASB: Proraso, with some Witch Hazel too After Shave:None
The shave was followed by a nice cup of coffee (organic beans ground in a vintage hand grinder; HUGE dollop of cream, sugar, cocoa powder). And now I'm off to water the plants and maybe take the dog for a walk in the forest surrounding the town cemetary..
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?
