    My Thanksgiving Shave:
Got up this morning, quick cup of Joe then set about getting the turkey in the oven. Once the bird was secure:
Prep: 3 mile run, lukewarm shower
    Razor: C.V. Heljestrand Mk4
    Brush: Semogue 1305
    Soap: Speick shavestick
AS: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Black Suede ASB
    Finish: Black Suede cologne

I've probably completely missed a lot of important tips that life has put right in front of my face but not this one: No matter who you are or what you do, there will always be people with a lot more than you have and people with a lot less than you have. The trick is to be the best animal you can possibly be. Make sure the ones you love know that and be grateful for the blessings you do enjoy, not just on Thanksgiving but every day of the year.

    Thanksgiving Day Shave

    Hot shower
    Stephan's rubbed into the whiskers
    Dirty Bird Scuttle
    Nancy Boy Cucumber SC
    New Forest badger brush
Wade and Butcher, 9/8 Celebrated Barber's Use
    Hone:220,1000,4000,8000,12000,Crox, diamond spray, SRDP1 Strop
    Razorock Aluminum
    Thayer's Lavender
    Vaseline for men

I had some time today so I decided to hone this razor. I've had it about a year but it needed some work. A while back when I was at Robert Williams house he fixed it up for me and gave it a quick polish. Told me I should learn how to hone it, so I tried.

After about 90 minutes honing the thing, I showered and gave it a try. I guess the honing job was good because it gave me a nice close shave on a single pass. Got a little nick by my nose because the thing it so large and I screwed up the angle. I hope the polishing, time and hone job removed any little bugs because I don't recall disinfecting it. I guess metal removal would be the best way anyway.

I hope everyone enjoys their holiday today.

    Default Thursday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
    Brush: Semogue 750 Best badger
Razor: Alcoso 117 13/16 Full Hollow
Honing Regimen: Chosera 1K- Shapton 2-4-6-8-16K CrOx
Strop: 40/60 Neil Miller Linen/English bridle
    Cream: Vulfix Sandalwood
    After shave: 444/Floïd Suave
Results: An almost brand new shave today, finished restoring this girl Tuesday and honed her yesterday, and today the mailman came with a package from Leon The razor took a marvellous, butter smooth edge, DFS++ in two passes. The 750 is not of the top shelf, but I face lather 99 out of 100 times and rarely use creams, but the few times I do I prefer to bowl lather and I find neither the Chubby, Berkeley or Wee Scot to be best suited for bowl lathering. The 57mm loft on the 750 made it a very nice brush for lathering cream in a bowl and it was actually quite a bit softer and had more backbone than expected. Followed Leon's advice and mixed a small dollop of 444 with Floïd and I can certanly say that this is going to be used a lot in the future, just the right menthol kick and the Floïd smells great (And SWMBO loved it which is a big + )

    Thursday

Razors: Merkur Futur; JM Schmid & Son 6/8
    Blade: Astra (4)
    Brush: Omega Boar
Soap: Ogallala Bay Rum Sage & Cedar
    A/S: Royall Bay Rhum

I waited to shave until late in day and I'm feeling lazy today (we're going to the in-laws for dinner) so I did one pass with the Futur and finished with the straight. The result: a very nice BBS shave! The Ogallala soap produced a perfect lather and the Royall Bay Rhum provided a nice finish for the holiday!

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
