Sun February 12th - Sat February 18th
Location: 36° 0'5"N - 115° 15' 21"W
Razor: Wade & Butcher 'Celebrated Extra Hollow Ground'
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 - 2 band
Soap: Tabac
Astringent: Thayers Witch Hazel
AS: Tabac
For this shave I picked my favorite Wade & Butcher which is exactly like I love my grinds, extra hollow with that nice singing sound when you strop. My whiskers are always in fear when they notice that razor on the sink. It gives me an incredible shave, time after time and it never disappoints. Same goes with my Tabac goodies.
Wishing y'all a great new SOTD

Week of February 12 SOTD - Sunday
|
Pre-Shave: Magnificently long, hot shower w/ Chagrin Valley Shampoo + Savon de Marseille bath soap :tu(oh, what a feeling) |
Brush: 26mm Simpson "Chubby 2", 2-band Super Badger |
Maxterpiece: 9/8" Wade & Butcher "Magnum Bonum", Wedge, Barber's Botch (w/ Black paper Micarta scales + Red Jasper Stone wedge) |
Honing (Refresh): Nakayama Maruka w/ Koma + Tomonagura slurry progression, followed by 70 laps on water alone. |
Strop: 0/0/0 laps (Torolf Linen / SRD Premium IV English Bridle leather / Ambrose Horsehide Clàsico leather) |
Soapreme: Cyril Salter "Indian Sandalwood" Shave Creme + Trumper's "Rose" Shave Soap + Glycerin |
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose, no alcohol) |
After Shave Skin Food:Trumper's "Sandalwood" |
Results: What magnificent start to this Sunday. I woke up early to a wonderfully and invigorating hot shower (pampered myself for an extra 10 minutes). Skin was refreshed and ready for meeting lather and steel. The lather was a superb combination of Rose/Sandalwood scent and the razor choice for today was none other than one of my Maxterpieces, i.e., the Magnum Bonum. This wedgy beast is a marvelous blade, gentle as they come. She wiped 2 days worth of growth (which on my face is nothing pretty) with absolute ease. I opted for the Rose/Sandalwood combo scent for my post treatment as well. I love days like this. MAGNIFICENT:y, all the way through. |
