Prep: Hot Shower / Very Hot Water Soak Razor: 5/8 Dame Stoddard & Kendall "Hub" razor fresh off the hones Hones: 100/200 felt/3" Chestnut Strop Brush: 24mm Silvertip in American Ash Uber: TOBS Eton College & a chunk of Tabac in the bowl AS: Alum Block & Lucky Tiger Edc: Navy Result: I tried honing this razor again, using my buddy Roy's suggested method. I tried it yesterday with pretty poor results, so I went after it again this morning. This time I spent plenty of extra time on the 8k and the results were much better. So much better in fact I honed up another razor I plan on using tomorrow. The shave was smooth with no tug or pull. My face was already pretty jacked up from yesterday's attempt, but I shaved anyway cuz I just had to try this edge. I was NOT disappointed for a change. Maybe I am getting the hang of this honing stuff. Next will be some experimentation on the C12k and the Balsa paddles.
(no pic today, tomorrow will make up for it!)

Nice shave with the W&B this morning after 20 laps on the Shapton 16k last night. I especially concentrated on the jawline ATG. A post I read the other day about switching hands (which I do) got me thinking. The other day I didn’t switch hands for part of the left side of my face (along the jaw). There’s benefits to that. When you have a goatee, using your right hand to shave along the jawline from ear to chin allows the hand to obscure your jaw; and you can’t see where to stop. Using your left had allows a better view.
Attended an interview for a new position in Head Office today, I think I ‘nailed it’ as they say. I went with the T&H Trafalgar for the interview, thinking Clubman or Floïd might be a bit overthetop-ish for some…
When I got home I did the ‘my place to the top of Mount Torrens’ walk. Time of 31:07, which is 4 minutes less than last time 1 week ago. Only the second time I’ve done this in years, back in ’02 I did it in 20:51; I’ll never do THAT time again!

Have a nice week, friends!
A late night shave for me today - broke out my near NOS Genco 'Fluid Steel', a beautifully nimble 5/8 hollow that benefitted greatly from six or so light strokes on the 2 line Swaty (with lather). The Swaty left the edge very smooth - if not overly 'sharp' - and let me pull off a DFS in three. The Genco was paired with my Thater olive, Body Shop Macca Root, Thayers W/H and Nivea aftershave.
A hell of a hard time getting a presentable pic today - ended up using the 'food photography' mode on my new Sony DSC-HX9. Still grainy as hell. No SOTD mode unfortunately!
All the best for the week ahead gentlemen! EF.

Heavy growth this morning. Did not shave all weekend. I recieved the razor Saturday, and honed it from a dull lightly chipped edge to shave ready.
I have been struggling with heavy growth. Lather could have used a little more water, and next time I will prep better. All in all it was a decent shave, just not wonderful.
God Bless and Happy Shaving!

Prep: Hot Shower / Very Hot Water Soak Razor: 6/8 Robeson "Robeson's Best" & 5/8 Dame Stoddard & Kendall "Hub" razor both fresh off the hones Hones: 100/200 felt/3" Chestnut Strop Brush: 24mm Silvertip in Honey Locust Uber: TOBS Sandalwood & a chunck of Tabac AS: Alum Block Then OBR Limes & Peppercorn AS Edc: Blue Deep Result: I honed the Robeson yesterday using the same technique that worked on the "Hub" and it gave a DFS in 2 passes, but being the nerd I am I went ahead and did an ATG pass on my neck. It's as fine a shave as she has ever given me. It is so much more satisfying to get a good shave from your own edges. The pic today includes both razors since the Hub never got her chance to shine. My left cheek is still pretty much trashed, so I was extra gentle with it today and still managed a nice close shave without the addition of irritation.
Happy Shaving Men! It was a Lovely Weekend!

What a shave. I went for the big Buddel and paired it with equally big time products. The big Thäter whipped up a big pile of lather that was equally big on luxuriousness. And the scent from the XPec is hugely satisfying. Sadly, though, the biggest thing about this shave was the cut I put on my chin when I got distracted and turned my head while starting a stroke... Perhaps a day or two off is in order!
