First of all, welcome to our new guests!! Great posts for your first times out!! Keep them coming!

Prep: Hot Shower / Very Hot Water Soak /Rise baby face shave gel rubbed in after the first pass Razor: 4/8 Salamandar from the Salamandar Razor Works, Solingen Hones: 100/300 felt/3" Chestnut Strop Brush: 24mm Silvertip in Honey Locust Uber: VDH rubbed in first, then brushed in AS: Alum Block & Osage Rub Edc: British Sterling Result: Honed this razor fresh today, I am participating in the C-Nat-athon xXMackXx started to get results on the use of the CNat from those who own one. I was amazed at the quality of the shave I achieved with it for the first time ever. I had to re-lap both sides and this time took the stone out to 8k and polished it so it shines even when dry. After the normal progression thru to 8k I could have shaved with this razor already. But 200 X's additonal and an additional 100 laps on the leather and I was so impressed!! It was an amazing DFS shave. The Osage Rub puts any fires out, but I didn't have any. The Alum left me with hardly any feedback and for once no nicks, burn, weepers or stingers. It was really a DFS.
Sorry no pic tonight!!
Happy Shaving Men! I sure love the fellowship here!

@ Carl:
A lot of years I used .45 ACP STI for IPSC and Combat-shooting competitions. Another weapon I favorize is the Glock 19.
And I love my Benelli Super 90 M1 and M3
http://up.picr.de/9636437vwg.jpg
In regard to handguns I've only ever used a Browning 9mm. My all time favourite weapon is an AK47, or maybe an SLR, though an M60 is of course very beautiful. Then again, an 84mm Carl Gustaf makes one feel one is alive, as does an RBS70 Surface to Air Missile. I'm a little more reserved these days and hope to buy a long bow shortly. I want to buy three big round hay bales, put them at the end of the back yard and hang a target in front. Though I guess NONE of what I mentioned would be of any help in the 'hood....
AK47 is a very good weapon, I own a modified one.
In my first life I liked to use a 100mm tank-gun (T55) and the 12,7mm machine-gun :w

PS - Congrats, Jeff!
Thanks for your words. You are correct in that I am very proud of her. She was not an easy one as a freshman and sophmore in high school. After those two years she has done really well.
Nice to see you here. Glad the shave went well.

It's been a while since I've had a shave, so this one was most welcome. I think this edge could use a bit more work, but it got me through without any irritation, though there was a bit of tugging. Back to the stones for this one! I am quite happy with how this razor turned out and, if today's shave is any indication, it will be a big part of my rotation for many years. I now have a double update to make in the Noob Chronicle. Happy Friday, SOTD Brothers!

Gentlemen:
A heavy wet snow fell overnight here in the province, turning Schloss Obie into a snapshot from a fairy tale. I have spent much of the early morning hours with a pot of Guatemala Halapu coffee, gazing out the window and listening to music. Which reminds of the saying . . . "A true music lover is one who on hearing a blond soprano singing in the bathtub puts his ear to the keyhole."

A great 3 pass shave today. Good way to honor my father's 2 year passing. Kind of blah today thinking about it all and the shave helped bring back good memories. Have a great safe day all.

What a shave this morning. The Fili is quite the gem, too bad it is on loan. the Cella was thick and rich as usual. My Beard on the other hand......I think I heard it whimpering as I stropped the Fili. For a larger razor I find this one suprisingly nimble. It devestaded my beard. What an amazing shave! I love starting my mornings in this fasion!
Good Shaving and God Bless!

Notes: Today's shave left me pondering. Inspired by the ongoing C-Nat-Athon, I grabbed my stone and redid the edge from yesterday's razor. Just after my shave, I found it lacking, but writing up this text it is hard to pin-point my complaint. Was the shave comfortable? Sure, not the best, but not bad. Did the razor leave hair? No, 1 pass and touchup to BBS. Still there is something lacking. Not quite as sharp as yesterday's shave, but more than sharp enough. I guess it just does not exite me. Or perhaps I'm just a bit grumpy today, still being sick and all.
Anyways, enjoy your weekend guys.

This week I haven't had any time to devote to straights. I've been out early every morning serving on jury duty. Lousy case to have to sit through and hear the testimony of the molestation and rape of a little 12 year old. Luckily he'll be in prison for a minimum of 25 years and when he's eligible for release, he'll be released to the INS and then deported to his homeland.
