Same as usual. Hot shower, Van Der Hagen deluxe soap, 8 drops of glycerin (mmm, lather!), Dovo strop, Thiers Issard from the Art of Shaving. Only difference today was my post-shave: Neutrogena post-shave lotion before splashing on the clubman aftershave.

    Cool Shave Test #1

Hey SOTD brothers...so i am trying to get my honing legs if you will and so today i did a first shave test with the two razors i picked for this "Rocky Road to Sharp"

Wasn't the best shave but any shave with a straight you honed yourself in my book is a GOOD SHAVE!

    so here goes:

    PREP:
    as always Shower and Proraso

    SOAP:
MWF....have neglected "the fat" and shouldn't be!

    BRUSH:
    Capshaw Custom Silvertip

    SCUTTLE:
used the G5 but also did a bunch more face lathering that i normally do....my jury is still out on the face lathering

    RAZORS:
NEW ENGLAND RAZOR Co. made in BOSTON (maybe) that is a bit over 6/8 Square Point nothing fancy here but a user
the Second was a EDWARD WECK: RIGIDEDGE 5/8 French Point...horn scales that need to be replaced but that will happen soon enough.....why spend time replacing scales if you mess up the edge cause you can't hone!

    POST:
Tepid Water, Alum, Cold Water, Thayer's, Clubman Splash......and some Woodford Reserve!

    MUSIC:
Owl City....not my "go to" music but really dig them and they do some cool stuff

All in all it wasn't a bad shave if you read the link theres a bit more about the shave but it could have been A LOT worse!

    have a great week guys!!!

Just finished a great night shave. For me it's the most relaxing time of the day. House is quite and bathroom is mine to take my time in and enjoy a nice slow close shave. My setup this evening was my new Dovo Masters 6/8 blade, eShave brush, proraso shave creme, Lucky Tiger aster shave and Trumpers skin food. It' 11:12PM and time for lights out. Good night gentlemen.

It's great when you get to be able to hone your own razors; very empowering...

Cool razors; you polished that Dubl Duck up really nicely. There was a point there my De Pews was going to re-join this world as a letter opener...

Happy Birthday! I found 45 to be one of those funny ages. Still young enough, but getting to the point of not being able to deny 'middle age'. In fact, now I think of it, every age after 15 than ends in a five is a bit iffy...
