Prep: | Hot Shower / Barbasol Lather soak with Hot Towel / Extra Virgin Olive Oil Rub / Rise Baby Face Gel on 2nd pass |
Razor: | 5/8 Shapleigh "Shapleigh Barber's" Freshly restored, scaled and honed |
Hones: | Pyramid 4/8k, 150 laps Cnat with slurry, 5 Diamond, 10 CrOx, 100 felt, 100 Horsehide, 100 Chestnut |
Brush: | 24mm Silvertip in American Ash |
Uber: | Tabac + 4 drops Glycerine - I finally got the tabac water ratio right and got some decent lather. Usually it is too thin for my tastes. I love the smell, but this is the first time it lathered up very nicely. I think I like it!! |
AS: | Alum Block + OBR Limes & Peppercorns |
Edc: | Cuba "Gold" |
Result: | A quicky polish, disinfected, a new set of scales (peened, not microfasteners this time) and a hone job, then a shave. All in the same morning! Of course the shave had to wait until afternoon, but still :) . The shave was a good one, not super great, but very passable and pleasurable. I think a few more passes on the CNat might help. I may go back to the 8k and polish it there some more, I'm not sure. I may leave it alone and just strop it a bunch more. It has a slight smile that was giving me trouble at first, but it had a bevel already so I just did the pyramid starting from the 4k. No irritation but some slight burn from the alum and of course, the OBR settles things right down. The Cuba Gold is becoming one of my favorites, and SWMBO doesn't disagree!! |
