Thanked: 485Nice bokeh...cool...
Summer in the South West of England, sounds like heaven...
Yeah, congrats. When it happened to me it was a bit embarrassing; like going outside in the morning and seeing all the empty beer bottles you went through last night; it sort of reminded me of how much time I spend here!Last edited by carlmaloschneider; 04-30-2012 at 09:24 AM.

Thanked: 146Monday
Prep: Hot Shower
Brush: Thater
Scuttle: G5
Soap: MWF
Razor: Frederick Reynolds 5/8" smiling near wedge grind.
Post: Proraso AS/ AOS ASB unscented
Result: WOW, nice shave for a Monday. This razor was an antique store find. I honed it and gave it to my oldest son. Told him if he liked it I would polish it and give it a new suit. He tried it but wasn't sure how good it was and gave it back. I took it back to the Naniwa 12k and polished the edge a bit more and this morning got one of my all time smooth shaves! Hope the rest of the week goes this smooth.
Have a Great Monday Gents!

04-30-2012, 06:08 PM #48I'm re using a SOTD pic (sorry), but I used/tested both razors today - even though with a different brush ...
Prep: Hot shower
Brush: New Forest Silvertip in vintage barbers handle
Razors: Gong (NOS) + Sum Extra
Soap/AS: Tabac
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean
Now it seems the Sum-Extra took an edge, a very nice and stable edge (last time I polished the razor after honing = bad idea) and the Gong had dialed in very nicely indeed and had a nice crispy sharp edge, just how I like them .
... and a lovely shot of coffee to go with the shave:

Monday Night
Seehund 5/8
Trumpers Sandalwood
Frank Shaving Synthetic
Alum
Old Spice Whitewater
A great shave, 2nd usage of the FS synthetic brush and it was impressive. So far I would say that it lathers well but as the hairs don't absorb any water it seems to lack the heat retention one gets with natural hair. That said as a cheap brush its very good.
