I hadn't shaved since Wednesday morning when I went to work, so this one felt particularly good. The MNS whips up just as well on this side of the globe as it does in DC. The suds were lubricious and the Gillette wiped me clean. So far, we're having a nice visit with the family. We had some wonderful ramen yesterday and off to the onset today! Hope all is going well where you are located...

I'll start the themed 'Hobby' SOTD with one of my favorite hobbies and pastime. The wonderful world of cactus. It's been a passion of mine since I was a kid. Unfortunately living in Belgium didn't yield much enjoyment owning many. Imagine the joy when first living In California and now Vegas I'm really in cactus heaven. I'm a bit limited in the cactus I can grow because of the freezing and colder winters we have in Vegas as opposed to Southern California, Arizona,... But I winter wrap the few that can't take the cold to well. I've been to all the national parks, try to visit every cactus garden wherever I go and take as many pics as I can. I have my own little cactus garden in the yard and spend at least 30 minutes a day making sure they are all doing well. It's my little getaway and zen oasis.

Sunday

An excellent morning. Bailey stayed over last night. We painted, played Super Heros, played on the Playstation and pretended to make ginger bread men.

This morning’s shave was with the De Pews. Needs a touch up, but my son has borrowed my hones.

After the shave I took the dog for a walk to the pine forest surrounding the local cemetery. It was raining so lightly the rain; which was almost mist, was blown by the slightest of breezes into my face like the tiniest of snowflakes.

The afternoon was spent trying to fix my son’s car (which, with a cracked head, resembles a steam engine) and eating large amounts of home made pitta bread and home made hummus.

I actually forgot all about the hobby thing, and because I liked the first photo so much thought I’d just be boring, like I usually am, and just say that shaving was my hobby. But I thought that’d be too predictable; my wife says I’m predictable. So I took a shot with the razor and the tools of my other hobby, photography with German Vintage Medium Format Cameras. That’s quite a narrow niche, now I come to think of it; but I do like to be specific…

So I posted two photos, the first one and the hobby one...

Great shave with this my, Most fave JA Heanckles. 3 pass perfection. As This is the start of the shave theme, I thought I would start with my love of all things sharp. I tend to be Spyderco Heavy in my collection. great company, steel choices and strong blades/design. In this is the Spyderco Bill Moran, Temperance 2, and Citidel 92MM Auto. So you won't think Im a Complete Spyderco snob I present the Benchmade AFO2 Tanto. I really do have many different companies blades. Kershaw, K-Bar, Boker, cold steel, CRK&T, benchmade, Fallkniven, gerber, SOG etc. And I wont even start on my multi tool AD!!!

For anyone light saber sharp crazy for their knives, look into the Wicked edge knife sharpener. Expensive? Yes!!! Worth every penny? Hell yes!!!!!
I sharpen everything from machetes, tactical tomahawks, meat cleavers, tactical blades etc. The only thing I free hand is my razors. And yes I have shaved with my knives set at a bevel of 28 degrees very comfortably just to prove it could be done!!!!
