Great shave today. The RazoRock is so fantastic, I must buy several more. The Dovo glided effortlessly over 2 days of growth.

Thanked: 1185
Prep: 2 mile run, Lukewarm Shower
Razor: Lecran Cutlery Extra Hollow Ground
Brush: VDH Boar
Soap: Clearly Natural Honeysuckle
AS: Agua Lavanda Puig
Moustache Goo: DAX High and Tight Hair Dressing
Remarks and Results: Good shave, a quick one pass touch up on the dome and then two on the face. I briefly considered a safety razor but just couldn't justify it on a lazy Sunday. The background of my picture is a newspaper ad from March of 1912. Fivay (or what used to be Fivay) is a few miles north of my place. Basically a pretty thriving little town back in the day, built around a saw mill. The parent company decided to shut down the saw mill and that was about it for the town.

*** Can everyone else see the grey bar taking up half my pictures? I took these on my phone and transfered them to my computer. Although the grey bars only show up when I upload them here. Can anyone explain why that might be?
Nice shave today, super smooth! I have been using my new red tip for my last 4 shaves so I wanted to move to something a bit milder. So I went with my A2 (1955) Flair Tip.
I'm sure other people have noticed, but the earlier flair tips are actually a little different than the later flair tips. I'm not sure which year the transition was made, but my 1959 Flair Tip is actually a bit shorter that the 1955. In addition, the portion of the handle right before the TTO knob is different, the TTO knob on the 1959 does not have horizontal lines, and the TTO mechanism is different between the two. It also feels like the '55 is a tad heavier but I do not have a scale so I can't confirm that.
The Shave

Sorry, the pic is a lil' blurry.
I should be recieving my Dovo 5/8 and Clauss 6/8 in the mail next week from a trip to Lynn for honing. So I will finally be able to do my first true straight razor SOTD! I have been practicing with a crappy blade for a while now, so I can't wait to get my Clauss and Dovo back!

Infidel's recent post inspired today's choice:
Hot shower
Dovo En Vogue w/Micarta
20x linen; 50x leather, Illinois 127
Mama Bear's lime + Bigelow menthol
Pinaud Clubman
I seldom shave with the En Vogue, because the chubby scales make it hard for me to strop easily. However, it's a darn good shaver!
Cheers!

1st SOTD submitted!!
Hello,
I have been reading all the SOTD threads with interest since joining in April 2012. Since then I have been on the learning curve with the Straight.
Today I managed a full shave with the blade in the photo. I purchased this one a couple of weeks ago on the bay. It was described a shave ready but needed a bit of a touch up on the stone which I had done at Knifewear in Calgary.
I am very satisfied with the outcome!!!
Due to some early starts for work this week I shall be using the Merkur DE with a Feather Blade then back to the Straight on Friday.
