Soap: Tabac

This Nowill razor turned out to be a shaver as well as a locker (I think), lovely ivory scales and very little wear over all and a super smooth Sheffield edge :D

Tuesday
(I forgot to post this last night1)
I shaved with the De Pews this morning. I actually wasn’t looking forward to shaving with the De Pews. I know that sounds really silly. You’re probably thinking ‘How obsessive IS this guy about routine that he uses a razor when he doesn’t want to?’. Fair point, I must say, if you did think that. I’d felt that I’d ‘neglected’ the De Pews for some time, and should use it. I was thinking the other day that though there are several razors in my humble collection of six that are no longer wild favorites, I’d never get rid of them as they meant so much to me. I’m not actually talking about the razors, there. I’m talking about the process of acquiring them. There’s the first razor (a Burrell Top Flight 5/8 spike) the first swap (a Wade and Butcher 5/8 with Canadian maple scales; which is also representative of my first SRP friend), the first frameback (a Klas Törnblom; which is also representative of my SECOND SRP friend), then there’s the De Pews (my first Bugger-Of-A-Razor to hone razor), and then the other two frame backs (from the second friend and first ‘restored’ razors). Oh, there’s a seventh, the (from the second friend) first patterned scales razor. That’s second friend has me hooked, doesn’t he?
Anyway, as I was saying, the shave turned out quite nice. The edge was fine; not perfect but acceptable, and I enjoyed the curve of the tang. If you haven’t used a razor shaped like that and can do so, you should; it’s quite interesting.
Oh, I’d also like to say that yesterday’s shave (which I didn’t talk about) with the Burrell was completely different to this, nut noticeably so in the audio department rather than the tactile…

Razor: Le Grelot 6/8 evidé Strop: Ambrose Spanish Horse (20/60) Preshave: Castle Forbes Brush: Simpson KH3 lather: Nanny's Juniper Berry SS AS: Myrsol Agua Balsámica EdT: Aqua Classica Borsari di Parma Comments: I have not get a great lather form this soap, maybe my mistake, more water than the soap needed. But the razor has forgiven my fault, and I have obtain a very smooth shave. When I bought this Grelot from rasurpur, some years ago, I was afraid to not being able to get a sharp and comfortable edge as the razor had when the seller sent it to me, but now I have learned a lot, thanks to my forum mates, and this razor has and edge worth of the best of my shaves. The agua balsamica is may preferred Myrsol product, the scent of the rosemary, thyme and lavender is pleasant and spicy as I usually like. Borsari di Parma gives a citrusy and classy italian finish....When I remember thhe times of the cartridge and can goo,....how wrong was me!!!!

Great shave with the Jernbolaget this morning. This razor is no beauty, but it’s a nice shape and has incredible steel. Have you ever wondered at really old razors and thought about how much they would have used just the first third on the razor’s edge from the toe end? I like a nice useful heel. This razor has a nice useful heel. It’s also nice to strop; you can strop this without even looking at the strop. O Melhor was the cream. O Melhor is one of my officially ‘banished’ creams due to its Not In My Opinion Natural Ingredients, but that’s probably more about my illogical thought processes than any actual negative health effect thing. I use it maybe each month or so, maybe less. It’s a great performer, though. Maybe the company should go the Proraso or Musgo Real way and make a more natural alternative? I can only hope. Sometimes I think some companies miss out on that market. Aftershave wise it was alcohol overload, both in an actual content and a pseudo ‘drinky-poos’ manner. All that rum and whisky, it was like a card night with the boys (not that I’ve actually ever attended a card night; believe it or not)

Just a quick touch up today as I was so smooth after yesterday's shave that I didn't need much. I hadn't touched the Panna Crema lately, so it got the honors. The Chubby effortlessly whipped it up into a whipped cream like lather and the Wostenholm frameback did exactly what it was built for. A simple, and efficient shave. I followed up with the Lucido and Le Labo Rose 31, and now I'm ready to face the office!

Have a Great Wednesday Gents!
another razor i honed the other night. Heavier grind than i expected. I think the edge got too sharp. Some irritation on second pass. I will have to decide which stone to use to fix that. Beautiful razor. I ubered up Dr Harris Lavender and TOBS. What an explosive combination. Thick creamy lather.

I've shaved with a Sheffield wedge before and didn't really care for it. I got a good deal on this one so I thought I would hone her up and give her a try. Absolutely fantastic! I loved every second of the shave. Definitely a keeper for a change of pace from my hollows.
Also, I highly recommend the new energy splash from Nivea for men. Follow it up with the revitalizing balm and you can't go wrong!

Another small "pocket razor" for the gentleman on the go! It gave a surprisingly good shave but it was a little interesting, trying to hold it between the thumb and forefinger. It is open comb and cuts very close, No blood; no problems!

Razor+blade: Merkur 37G+Elios (3) Brush: Kimson silvertip blond horn lather: Cyril R. Salter "Wild Rose" AS: Dr. Harris "Pink" aftershave EdP: Les parfums de Rosine "Rose d'homme" Comments: My aim today is to get the lazy man's lather,....then I chose a big 28 mm silvertip and an easy shaving cream without taking care of the quantity,....and it's done, lather for 3 faces,....Furthermore with a rose scent, but not fresh rose petals, Cyril R. Salter's "Wild Rose" is not wild, it's a domesticated, dead and dried rose scented shaving cream. But fortunately the Dr. Harris "Pink" it is, the true rose scent is present, but it last for minutes, or seconds....but nice seconds indeed. Finally a rose cologne, not a fresh rose scent that could be girlie but a well known rose "blend" with leather and wood, classy, deep, in the way of Guerlain's "Habit Rouge" or Rochas's "Globe" , not for wearing flip-flops and shorts

Result: This razor was a Father's Day gift from my 16 year old son, so I was determined to get it shave ready. It took a while, and a lot of patience. It is now a fine and serious shaver, incredible really. This razor has exceeded my expectations. I may never know who made the scales. They are somewhat funky, but I really like them. My son watched my first shave with this razor, and that got him interested in using a straight. He shaves maybe twice a week, although we are noticing his facial hair (can't call it a beard yet) is getting thicker and is spreading. One of these Saturdays I will get him started. Good day gents!

Thursday
Excellent shave with the J A Hellberg Frameback this morning. This gave a really close nice smooth shave. Two passes (I had a meeting to attend). Trafalgar was an excellent choice for today, which was cold and wet. It seemed to match the mood a little. Especially when you consider as I drove to work I had snow on my car. Snow is about a once in 10 years event around here, and there was precious little of it this morning on the car (a handful or two) at 7:30 AM. The last time it snowed round here it lasted until maybe 10:30 in the morning. I’m starting to really value these Swedish steel razors…
One day to go, guys, then it’s weekend time, and it’s going to be about 25 here on Sunday, a nice day for either the Botanical gardens or a forest walk, I think…
BTW, what on earth happened? Did everyone all of a sudden take a creativity pill? The photos and gear today is just astonishing. Some of those photos are just incredible, really...
