Thanked: 346It shaves like a Henckels instead of a Dovo They're harder, and take a sharper edge and hold it longer. And they've got that stiff Friodur grind. And they don't look out of place sitting next to your other Friodurs.
There's actually some chance that the new Henckels are being made under contract by Dovo, but if so then Dovo is making them to Henckels specs and using henckels grinds, they aren't just a relabeled Dovo model with white twins scales.

Thanks - looks like the Fridour's the one for me - I go with function over form 100% of the time.

Very nice shave today - this is one of my smallest, lightest razors and I had a hard time getting a good shave with it. I set a goal of being able to sharpen the razor and improve my technique to the point where I could get a good shave with this razor - including against the grain.
While not as comfortable a shave as with my larger or stiffer razors, I'm gratified by the fact that I am now able to get a close shave (although I did get some razor burn in a couple of spots) with this razor. There's lots of room for improvement, but I'm quite pleased with my progress to date.

30 hours after a 1-pass shave, my face was more than ready:
-Hot shower (with hair conditioner on the face during the final body-lathering)
-Lather up with some CH Desert Ironwood, using a C&E BB
-1 Pass with the Taylor's Eye Witness 6/8 round point (yep, today WAS Taylor-day )
-Re-lather
-1 More pass
-Rinse with warm water, splash of cold water
-A/S treatment was a combination of 99% IPA and facial cream (so it doesn't interfere with my cologne for the Xmas dinner).
All in all this 2-pass shave outpimped most of my 3-pass shaves

- Three days growth
- Shower
- Conditioner
- Kent 50/50 boar/badger brush
- TAGMSC shave soap
- 7/8 TI Red stamina Sheffield Silver steel
- Hot soapy water
- Cold clean water
- TAGMSC aftershave milk
Tried the conditioner on the face for the first pass. I don't think it really helped anything. I honed up the TI a few days ago and this was the first shave with it since. My goodness that thing gets amazingly sharp. I know that some people swear by their cheaper razors but I'm in LOVE with my 7/8 TI.
I do 4 passes on most parts of my face and 2 on the neck. This keeps my neck comfortable and my face as smooth as anything. I think this is my ultimate combo. the TAGMSC stuff is wonderfull and the TI is freaking amazing.
