I was very disappointed by this soap, the lather dries out VERY quickly. On the good side, it is a very slick lather and has a good feel after shaving.

I haven’t posted here for what seems like ages, but what is actually about 5 days. I decided on a DE shave this morning, as I hadn’t really enjoyed the last few SR shaves; I’m getting a little bored. I get bored with things easily, unfortunately. Possibly I need to go fully ‘shave in the bedroom at my little ‘shaving stand’ to get more oomph back' style. Maybe I also need one of those old Edwardian or Victorian doowops with the little metal bowl and little spirit burners to heat your water and/or lather; have you seen them? Cool, they are.
Anyway, the Mike’s Natural Soap actually lathered well (I have problems with it), and I’m not sure why. Maybe because I used slightly cooler water (i.e. I didn’t change the sink and bowl water after the shower like I usually do). Might experiment and see how Mike’s goes with cold water…
Bay Rum overload was the now standard smell application response.
Got pissed off when I found my (for me) expensive (350) boot’s leather soles had worn through; should have got those sole protector thingies. Actually, considering the end of the world is nigh, I should have got some soul protector thingies as well. Bianca, my daughter, is staying with us as with Bailey as she’s worried about it all (the end of the world thingy). Clearly she’s an idiot. Bailey can now say ‘pocolypse quite fluently. It’s all currently blamed on Foxtel as Foxtel is (in her telling of the story) ‘American’. I’m not sure what ‘American’ has got to do with apocalyptic fear, however to be fear (pun) there DOES seem to be a lot of dooms day preppers and such in that neck of the woods. I mentioned that ‘dooms day prepping’ wouldn’t be much use if it WAS the end of the world (ETW), but then made the mistake of asking if the ETW was going to be a ‘gradual thing’. She replied that it was said that it would indeed be a gradual thing. So, tomorrow, when I burn my porridge, it’ll be linked to the general ETW thing…
OH, BTW, we were visited by an elf today. He told me he had seen Father Christmas. I said 'where!?!' 'Sitting around in shops' was the reply...

A super smooth two pass shave from the Maxotte, what an incredible grind on this razor the finest I've seen, you can actually flex the blade if you press it firm enough, hats off to who ever ground that blade.

Quite interested in the Slick Water, I've been thinking about a pre-shave again lately...Is this your first post on the SOTD? If so, a very big festive season greeting...!
Hey I like that background of that photo! Nice idea...
Hi Carl It's my stainless steel food prep unit come work station, It's also become my photo station as well lately, as the light is so bad in the northern hemisphere this time of year It's about the only place I can manage to knock out a SOTD photo, and I can't be arsed to set up a light box.

Oh, I thought it looked like wrapping paper on a piece of cardboard to tell you the truth; it's an idea I might explore. I normally use just a piece of either white or black large card sort of stuff that kids used to use for 'projects' on hydro electricity, the main exports of [insertcountry] and erosion before PowerPoint came about...
