    Default Sun December 22nd - December 28th

Two more failed attempts to capture these two beautiful items. A custom 15/16 Brian Brown, and a end grain walnut chopping block made by a very skilled friend.

    Both were early Christmas gifts

The Ad execs were nuts or had a strange sense of humor back in the day. Oh yeah, good shave.

    Sunday afternoon
    Hot water prep
Gebr. v.d. Sanden razor - TOBS Eton College sc - Silvertip badger brush - cold water splash - Calani asb - Acca Kappa Muschio Bianco AdC

My dad passed away last Friday evening in the presence of my mom, my sisters and me. It was tough to let him go, but at the same time good to prevent him from any further suffering. I'm going to miss him very much. He always was there for us and gave us good advice in life. Born in the very late 30's he never owned a straight nor had ever shaved with one. His first was a DE from the mid-50's. He finished with some Gillette thing with 3 blades.
I couldn't think of any better blade than the v.d. Sanden for my first shave after this. A great shave to honour one of the strongest men in my life. Both in willpower and in mindset. Dad, I'm genuinely going to miss you.

I lost my Dad a few years ago so I feel your pain. May he always live in your memories.

I like everything about this blade. Hats off to the man who made the custom scales. They are a perfect match to this one!

had a full wedge and an almost full that ive been almost afraid to hone since i cant seem to get those little skinny blades up to par ... well ive been trying my hardest to get a DD Dwarf rollin for a couple days with no luck so i decided to hit it again and for some reason i finally got it .. so with luck on my side i figured ill throw the wedges on the stone and see what happens .. Nailed them both as well as the Dwarf ....... first pass on the almost wedge i had to check the lather cause i didnt feel a hair , hair all over the lather , finished one side of my face and never really felt a hair but she was smooooth ... same effect with the almost full on other side of the mug ! used the Dwarf around the goat so i had an awesome shave with 3 blades !!

No shave for me today! I shaved late yesterday with a Henckels 15/16 #99 and Poraso prior to a manditory (boring) party!
Needless to say, the season has brought too much activity for me. Wonderful show today, Gents. Quite remarkable efforts.
May all have a Merry Christmas. I shan't miss an opportunity for a new year's SOTD with you all next Sunday!

No shave today, yesterday I did the neck a little with the Mühle R 89, but basically I'm going for the rugged holiday look thing.
Just dropped in to say Merry Christmas to everyone. It's been great hanging out with you guys over the past year.

Hope you have a really nice special time this Christmas...
