Strop: Illinois 835
Cream: Castle Forbes Lime
Brush: Comoy Badger
Razor: 11/16 Bengall (Sawn-off)
Astringent: Thayer's Lemon
Balm: Nivea
A/S: Aqua Velva
The CF Lime was a sample Rene sent me last year (Thank you sir) which has been hiding at the back of my shelf.
It lathered beautifully and the smell was amazing.
Unfortunately the shave was bad.
It's been a while since I used this Bengall but I was surprised how below par the edge was. I quit after 1 pass.
This one will be going to the hones later in the evening.
They cant all be great shaves I guess :p

It was Jacky Boy's first day of school today. He was happy to go, and this afternoon he said he had an awesome day.
I'm so proud of him, he's such a cool little man.
I couldn't shave today because my hands were shaking in anticipation, now that the Superbowl is over, of the Chiefs picking Leon Sandcastle with the first overall pick in the draft...
Prep - None
Strop - 3 inch bridle leather/hard felt
Razor - DD Goldedge
Brush - Simpsons QE II Jubilee Manchurian badger
Soap - MWF
Post - Alum block followed by Thayers witch hazel

I had not shaved since Thursday so I gave the Revisor a quick touch up of it's edge to make sure it was up to the job. It sliced through the stubble with absolute ease.

I have been adding 3 to 5 degrees to my angle, must have been too shallow before because the shaves have been phenomenal! Ubered the Tabac soap with some Salter Vetiver and 5 drops of glycerin, what a great combo. 3 passes and beyond BBS.

Good morning y'all! I don't know if it's because I'm waking from a post Super Bowl food coma, but I seem to be moving at half speed in a hyper speed world. So, to rev up my slow start (and cut the hair that was missed in yesterday's shave) I decided to shave with my new vintage Gillette Tech.

The Day: Gorgeous and cold. The Shave: Another shave from a wonderfully sharp blade. This traded for razor is among the best of my best. Paul honed it and it is superb! Stroker’s Find is a great glycerin soap and always protects and lubricates. Close and clean DFS in two. The Captain’s Choice is a nice sharp and pleasant Bay Rum.
The fun of trying things makes the day go a bit better and quicker!

Razor: Gens #14
Strop: Steer Hide
Brush: Crowley & Tosh Silvertip Badger
Cream: Musgo Real Spiced Citrus
Pre-shave: Art of Shaving pre-shave gel
Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery G20
Tighten-up: Alum block
Balm: Acqua di Parma
Result: equal to old 5-blade cartridge
I shaved four times this past week with the 5/8 Dovo, and a 6/8 Mastro Livi. Sunday, with a full 3-day beard, I broke out the Gens. Having just used the other razors, I really got an appreciation for how big and heavy a #14 blade is. I had also just watched a video of a member doing a very efficient shave, starting with a XTG, no WTG at all. With this in mind, the goal of this shave was efficiency -- get it done with the fewest strokes possible. I saw some improvement, but mostly with the strokes around the chin ATG. The shave was remarkable -- no nicks, no cuts. I was left thinking I don't know of a way to get any smoother, with any razor. I then proceded to cure my face by tending to a capricious smoker all day so that I wouldn't ruin a brisket.
Cheers,
Jack

3) had to make up for leaving the Boker out of the last shave after getting it ready , so this shave was all straight razor .....all 3 shaves were great and ended how any good shave should !!

Prep - None
Strop - 3 inch bridle leather/hard felt
Razor - Clauss full hollow 13/16
Brush - SOC 2 band badger
Soap - DR Harris "Arlington"
Post - Alum block followed with Thayers witch hazel
Cold water face lathered shave. The Clauss, picked up yesterday locally, cleaned up well and took a good edge delivering a fine smooth and close shave. It's a quiet full hollow, not noisy like DDs are. Very pleased with it. The other thing that struck me from this mornings shave was just how good a brush the SOC 2 band badger really is, especially considering the price point. Have a fine day.

Prep: Hot Shower/ Proraso pre-post creme
Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery G5
Brush: 26mm Silvertip Mountain Badger in Juniper handle
Soap: Pannacrema 'Casablanca'
Razor: Economy Supply 44/20, 11/16" Square point
Post: Hot water rinse/Cold water splash
Finish: Proraso AS/ Iggy's Balm
Result: Another fantastic 3 pass shave. Broke out a new bottle of Proraso AS, not sure if they changed the formula on this, but it seems to have a little more menthol 'kick'. Have to get some more Pannacrema, this is some good stuff.

Sorry about the poor quality iPhone photo -- was in a hurry to get out of the house this morning. It's hard to beat the lather and scent of Speick, it's quickly becoming one of my favorites and is already one of my "go to soaps." The razor was a Christmas gift from the wife. I just love this big, old Sheffield razor. It's the only vintage razor I have that hasn't been restored, and I think I'm going to keep it that way. It's really a beauty and I would hate to loose the "old school" charm it has. Great two pass shave -- practically BBS. Have a great day!

Good morning y'all! Because I'm in a current infatuation phase with Sheffield razors, my judgment has become questionable with respect to buying more Sheffield razors. Proving this point was a Frederick Reynolds POS, complete with larvae ridden horn scales that I insisted on buying thinking I could restore her. Well, once I received it, it became obvious that I would not be capable of changing the status of this razor from POS to beauty queen. I needed a pro to do it, and I had the perfect pro in mind. Max.
Max turned my POS into a sweet razor, and once I received her yesterday, this morning's shave could not get here quickly enough!! She started out as a 7/8 with pits, nicks, devil's spit, and chewed up scales. Because of the amount of work needed to get the edge, she's now a trimmed down 13/16.
Thank you Max!
