Took a break from shave-testing razors and shaved with the W&B. It was almost as good as a TEW shave. Sheffield is winning over my heart more and more these days.

    Default Sunday

Shower, hair conditioner soak, hot towel
    Shavemac 501
    Mama Bear Sandalwood Vanilla soap
    Frederick Reynolds wedge
    Alum block
    Pinaud Bay Rum A/S

Decided to treat myself to a slow Sunday shave with the heavy FR wedge today, and have to say this was probably the best shave of my life.
I still struggle most days to get the sideways whiskers on one side of my neck close enough that I can't feel them if I run my hand across the grain, but I sure got them today.

Brilliant shave today because we had a new combination (condensing) boiler fitted yesterday. Instant hot water and very efficient compared to the old "back boiler" system that was replaced.

So, a steaming hot bathroom, lots and LOTS of hot water

Hot shower and rinse in basin
    Proraso green
Dove conditioner + 5 minutes to soften hair

Trumpers limes with Edwin Jagger best badger, then a couple of minutes stropping my new favourite razor, a Krusius 5/8 spike yellowheart from Toxic.

The blade shaved so close it was atomising hairs. It is a funny thing, but you know when a blade is cutting just right, it makes the right sound when cutting through the hair and feels just right in the hand. It is a beautiful thing.

The sound reminds me of a dying fires embers cracking on a cold night.

Anyhoo, I finished off (some hour or so later, ahem), with a few cold rinses, some witch hazel and lemongrass splash, and then a nice rub of proraso a/s balm.

I wouldn't normally type up this much for a shave, but hey, a new boiler, fine razors and a/s ... what can you do eh!?
