Beautiful images.
Interesting to see 4711 being used here quite often.
Over here in Germany it is a scent being used by older women *only*. Since I am a kid it is 4711 == old woman. We even have it in our language. If You say somthing like "I came into the room and there was 4711 in the air...", everyone knows what You're talking about.
Does not mean it is not a nice scent, it's just so closely connected, that I never ever had the idea of using it my own... maybe I should try. :)
been working on this Goldedge , had it feeling to sharp but shaving well , knocked it down a bit on the coticule to get that soft coti edge , got it close to where i wanna be but im gonna take it back to the coticule for a few more strokes to step it up a notch ..lol
pre= shower
cream= Proraso Blue
brush= silvertip
razor(s)
1) DD Goldedge
2) Gillette Super Speed with a Derby
results= a nice shave but could have been better , the spike bit me a couple times but the only thing that i didnt like was i didnt get the edge where i wanted it off the coti , but that is also the good thing as i get to return to the coticule for more fun ..lol

Henckels #14 razor - Cyril Salter travel badger brush - Sanders & Co in an ueber with a fingertip of Palmolive and a bit of glyerin - cold water splash - Thayer's Rose witch hazel - Calani asb - hot towel - Acca Kappa 1869 AdC
The first real sunny day in weeks. Sat outside for a while enjoying nature's sounds and the world winding down. The shave was okay. Nothing thrilling today. It left me with no redness and no irritation, which means that the razor is "almost there". Still need to smoothen out the edge. It'll get there. There's no rush.
The Alium Ursinum (bear's garlic) in our garden is flowering finally. It's a protected plant here in Holland. I like to use the leaves in salads. It's great to make soup from as well. The taste is milder than garlic and stronger and fuller than chives.

Well it has been far too long since I've been able to post to SOTD. Hopefully things will calm down a bit and let me get back to this more regularly.
A while back a friend gifted me his old wood lathe and I have been playing around with it, mostly messing around with making brush handles. On Sunday my zen-like turning state of mind was rudely interrupted by a volley of Anglo-Saxon vocabulary that followed - in a decidedly un zen-like way - the removal of an unintended but large chunk of purpleheart from what was supposed to have become brush #3. Instead, it became snurdler #1. The silver lining in this particular cloud is that I can now feel a certain sense of sophistication and refinement as I now snurdle before shaving.
This was also my first time trying out this cream. Wow. Does it ever lather up nicely! The vendor I bought it from told me that I was lucky to have bought it when I did as it has been discontinued. So if you're a fan, best re-stock now.
Have a good one!

Soap: A good friend of mine enjoys making handmade essential oils soaps and she made me some special Sweet Orange & Benzoin soap to use for shaving. She made me 2 and poured the soap into small dishes she had and gift wrapped them. Many thanks to her for this much appreciated effort. :)
Brush: My favorite silver tip Shavemac, showing signs of wear and almost due for replacement.
Razor: My Iwasaki Kamisori.
Orange: Off my tree in the back garden. :)
Have a great day and shave.

"Two centuries ago at this bend in the Hudson River, America's first defenders stretched a chain across the river to prevent British ships from dividing and conquering our new Nation. Today we add 1,003 new links to that unbroken chain of America's defenders, 1,003 new and solid segments in the Long Gray Line, a line that stretches back 191 years through your ranks and as far into the future as the Lord lets the United States of America exist. The Long Gray Line has never failed us, and I believe it never will."

Today is a special day for me. 20 years ago, I graduated from West Point and joined the profession of arms as a 2LT in the United States Army. It is only fitting, IMHO, that I commemorate the day with a very special shave. And this one certainly fit the bill!
