I like this, I think it looks like a workhorse, that has been around doing what it does- shaving. A tool with purpose for its purpose.
Good morning Gentlemen,
-C.V. Heljestrand No 31, 5/8"
-Simpsons Chubby 2
-La toja Shaving soap
-Truetfitt & Hill 1805 After Shave Lotion
A special day for me, it is my 39th birthday!
I celebrated the day with my new Heljestrand razor. What a fantastic razor it is! From now on, I would say that there are two categories of straight razors: the straight razors and the Heljestrand!

Happy Birthday, Harry!
Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag!
39. Oh to be just 39 again...
Happy Quokka Birthday...
I do realise this says 'you are birthday' (misplaced apostrophe) but I was pushed a bit to find another Australian animal to say happy birthday with. We've done 'Kangaroo birthday', 'Wallaby birthday' 'Emu birthday' even 'Platypus birthday' There's a limit. So I asked Joel, my son, "name an Australian animal" I said, looking up from the laptop and (strangely) he said "quokka". You'd be surprised at how few relevant pictures come up when one Googles 'quokka birthday' in Google images. Really.

A very nice shave this morning, if a little early. Lucy, the Dalmatian I share my bed with, said she wanted to get up at 0605 rather than 0630 even though she’d got up at 0130 as normal. There is no point at all in arguing with Lucy. You can tell her to SHUT the F up but you lie there knowing that in about thirty seconds she’ll do that little apologetic squeaking thing again and you won’t get ANY more sleep.
Don’t you hate waking up with only half and hour or so to go? If you wake at, say, one, it’s like “Bonus!" Another five and a half hours to go!” And you feel like giving yourself a high five. When you wake (for some unknown reason) at six, when you’re ‘supposed ‘to wake at six thirty, you feel depressed. “What’s the point” you think. “Another thirty minutes. Wow”. As you can probably tell, I like sleeping. Always have.
Anyway, the shave was very nice and close, ‘Blue Stratos’ is the cheapest of the cheap, but it’s not all that bad, really…

Taken from Carl's last post.
Nah its just like having kids, used to get woken at least an hour early every day, was really good cuddly daddy time, snuggle up on sofa with my daughter, cartoons and first breakfast.
Particularly when I am on night shift after about 4 hours sleep if I get woken up that's it, stuffed for the rest of the day. Whereas 30mins is just some bonus day. If I get that at home and no one else is up its shed time - horray for me.

Today was supposed to be a good day. I had plans to have a picnic and go to the beach with my girlfriend and some of her family. It should get to about 29 degrees C today, which for Ireland is pretty damn high. Unfortunately for me though, my shoulder started aching yesterday and by last night I was in agony when moving my arm. It is still stupidly painful even when my shoulder is at rest. I decided it was best for me not to go because I'm a grouchy bastard when my shoulder flairs up and I didn't want to ruin their day.
I have hypermobility in most of my joints and my right shoulder seems to be the most affected. My right shoulder is fairly unstable (I can pretty much dislocate both of my shoulders, at will, without any pain and they go straight back in on their own about a second later) so my rotator cuff is overworked when I do pretty much anything. After a while my rotator cuff just gets too tired to continue working and then the shoulder pain happens.
I think it's finally time that I take these pains seriously and build up my shoulder strength.
