At this point I wish I had done a bit with a DE so I was not walking blind getting her started.

I am curious as well

I love my straights as well, but I like the DE for those time when I don't have time for a full 3 pass shave or don't need a BBS shave and want to cut down the whiskers. They also will give you a great 3 pass shave as well.

@pfries I just use the persona from Walmart, but there are better blades out there. SRD has a great selection. I have used the Gillette 7 o'clock and they are fantastic. The persona's I only get 2 full shaves out of them myself but they get the job done pretty well.
