Open combs CAN be aggressive, but that doesn't mean that they WILL be aggressive. It's pretty much up to the blade exposure.

In fact I use Fatip, Mercur 15C, Gillette New and evreyone is more aggressive then most closed combs, but at the same time they are different to one another and they behave in different ways using different blades: the sharpest the blade, the smoothest the shave. IMHO

Gents:
In my opinion I use a merkur OC. It works ok but it burns a little in some areas. I was very impress with the performance of the muhle r41. that one works for me real nice and for me is close to a OC.
