Thanked: 39DE Replating Service. Any recommended services?
I've got a couple of old Gillettes that I would like to have replated. Can anyone recommend a service that can get that done? I know there are a few that are good, and some that are notoriously unreliable, but I can't remember which ones are best.

Thanked: 375I know Razor Emporium does it, not sure who else and I've never used this service.
I'd be interested to know who all does this too and how well.CHRIS

Thanked: 14Reliable Electroplating in Massachusetts was good to me on a couple DE's, avoid Razor Emporium like the crabs .. might want to do a little surf over at Badger & Blade, they are more DE focused and have more platers than I can remember right now, but Reliable is US, the other great one was in GB so postage factors in. Let me know if you want further info
I tried jewelers, a guy in Reno did a gold one for about $30, not including postage. So, thinking I was smart, went to a local jeweler, where three guys gathered around an old Aristocrat, oohed, ah-ed, wow, like grandpa's razor, and said they could do it for $250

Thanked: 39Thanks guys. I looked at Razor Emporium, and the site looks good, but I couldn't remember if that was the service that had been reported as very unreliable on Badger and Blade. I couldn't find a lot of up to date info on badger and blade either, but I've only started looking. I had been planning on using Above the Tie to replete my razors, but he recently stopped offering the replating service. I've bought from him many times, so I know he runs a good business. I have a replated Tech from him, and it is outstanding. His service is great too. It's a shame he doesn't replate on demand anymore.

I _think_ I recall the shaving101 web site having some good info on replating. Search their site for the relevant keywords if you can, but don't spend more time than that in case I misremember it.
Keep your pivot dry!
