I really like the fancy handle. Does the decoration help with gripping?

Last weekend I found GEM SE blades at the grocery store. It surprised me, especially since they don't stock DEs.

What is different from a 1912 Ever Ready razor and a Lather Catcher?

    Thanks again!!
If you have the spine off a Gem blade you can use it on a Feather Single Edge blade (not the narrow type used in Cobras) - they give a superb shave but don't last long. A Gem blade is good for about 4 shaves and you get an incredible sound as it rips through stubble.

Which razor shaves the best the ER or the Lather catcher?

There are many Lather Catcher models, from different companies. That pictured LC - I didn't care for much and included it in a trade (with streamline - the most overhyped of them.all) for a Toyo straight.

For me a 1912 model is better and with a clipped Astra blade as mentioned above, it is outstanding. I'm now on shave #3 with that blade, on one edge and it's great.
