Great! So glad I got a quality razor. I have been using safety razors for a long time, but never had a new one that I purchased (was using a hand me down). Any other suggestions from anyone? Blades? Thanks again.

Blades are HIGHLY personal choices. You'll be hard pressed to find a lot of consensus there. I tried a lot of them but found Kai to be my absolute favorites. The steel is slightly heavier in gauge and they delivered a very smooth shave......for me. I liked Treet next, then Feather. Sharks were acceptable but not my preference. Try a million kinds. You'll find the ones that are best for you.

Thanked: 23Personna Medical Prep blades are my choice. Box of 100 will last a long time. Tried several, and these blades work well.

Bryan,
The Edwin Jagger DE razors are fine in every way. They are mid-range in aggressiveness, well designed and balanced, and the workmanship on them is impeccable. The 2014 version of the DE89 series has deep knurling on the handle for a better grip. Here is the link:

Indeed, you will do well with the Edwin Jagger DE razor.

Thanked: 8I really like my EJDE89. It's a fine razor.
If this is your first DE: I'd recommend a sampling of blades to find what your face likes. EJ includes a pack of Derby blades which are rather polarizing: you either like them or hate them (I'm in the latter camp). I've heard good things from this site: Buy Individual Razor Blades for Double Edge, Single Edge and Shavettes where you can order small quantities of blades to try out different ones. Though I've not used that site myself.
