Default Welcome To The DE and SE Forum.

Cartridge razors? We ran them out of town years ago. Disposable razors? You mean the ones for Straight Razor Wanna Bees? Straight razors? We don't need no pinchy Straight Razors here.

This is the place to discuss the Double Edge Razor the most famous and overall best way to shave. How do I know that? Well King Gillette personally told me that many years ago.

All kidding aside, the DE has been around in one form or another since the late 1800s and even to this day they keep coming out with newer models that claim to do it better. The latest slew of new razors being the all stainless steel models. DE's come in all varieties some made from plastic and some from zinc and some from brass and of course stainless and with all kinds of plating from chrome and nickel and gold and platinum and more and they come adjustable and fixed with two piece models and three piece models and hybrid types too.

Also lets not forget the "lowly" Single Edge razor that also comes in various configurations and has been around for quite some time and has it's legions of followers too.

So, settle back and read through our little forum here and learn about all the different types out there both vintage and modern. Then after you have learned about the DE then it's time to enter a whole new universe of the DE blade. The decision of what blade to purchase can make the difference between a fantastic shave rivaling a straight razor to a crummy and uncomfortable one. What might work in one razor may not in another and what might work for me might not work for you. There are probably more variables in choosing a DE and a blade to match then conquering just about any shaving skill.

But have no fear. Lurking with these walls are some of the most knowledgeable folks well versed in all matters relating to the DE. Many are collectors with vast collections of historical models and some are just DE stockpilers who can't resist the latest and greatest. All are willing to impart their knowledge to all comers and infect them with DEitis.

So arm yourself with your favorite Lillicraps and your most aromatic shave soap and lets begin.

Maybe YOU will be the wise one to answer that most important question of all. Which is better a vintage DE or a modern one?????

Gotcha. Seen them before on auction sites but didn't know what they were called.

The Lillicraps is a brand. Many outfits made them but the Lillicraps were the most famous. As I recall they were made from the old Uranium Glass but don't hold me to it.
