Thanked: 12As seen on TV razor
Has anybody ever used the safety razor from the As Seen on TV section at Target? Its 20 bucks and comes with a stand and box of blades. I belive the pawn star guy, Rick, endorses it. I am wondering if its any good or just spend a few dollars more for something of better quality.
Thanks,
Red

Red,
I suggest choosing a far better razor for a few dollars more. Try the Edwin Jagger "barley" or the Muhle R89. How about the Merkur C34? And the American-made stainless steel Weber. These are excellent razors and well worth the money. The razor you mention hawked on TV resembles the Weishi of China — it could be made by the same company — and not the world's greatest razor in quality and certainly not a stellar shaver.

I bought one of those, and it was a big disappointment.

Obie is right: for a few bucks more, there are a lot of better choices.

I believe it is a re-packaged Wieshi
Which if memory serves is a "copy" of the Super Speed, sorta...
There are so many better choices for a first DE.
+1 to Obie's comments, there are so many better choices, not only for a starter DE (I have the R89 and Weber and they are both great)
After the razor it is all about the blades. A very YMMV thing so I suggest getting a sample pack and rotate through them. Your opinion may change as you get used to the process and the razor.

Not to mention, while I like the show, just have a look at that crew. I'm not sure anyone should be taking grooming tips from any of them them.

I picked one up while on a business trip when i realized that i left my Rolls at home and did not want to go without shaving. It did ok but i still prefer my Rolls if I can't use a SR.
on the other hand my wife saw it sitting on the bathroom counter while i was working a weekend day shift and decided to give it a go as it did not look as "scary" as the rolls or straights. she even kinda liked it.*Insert deep thought/profound statement here*

This guy that does a bunch of shave reviews did a review on it. Check it out.

Gentlemen,
There are reviewers and then there are "Reviewers."

I quit watching the review as soon as he had to fiddle with it, and make sure to 'center the blade'.

Glad this thread came up. Swmbo had saw this razor at walmart. Came home telling me she had seen one of my style razors there. I asked new? What name? etc. She said it was the pawn star guys. Was thinking wieshi when I first saw it too. I will stick with my gillettes an merkurs.
