Default Always rushed leads to neglect

Not sure if this should be here or in the straight section. It contains both so I am posting here....

So I know a lot of us use both straights and DE's. I have the habit of in a hurry just grabbing a DE an getting the job done. Its really easy since my daily brush an a DE stay on the bathroom sink. My issue is lately I have seemed to be rushed all the time. My straights have become a weekend luxury shave or a go hairy for the day an straight shave at night (which I despise).. I love using my DE's an keep a large rotation going. My assumption is I am not the only straight user on here that has this issue. All that being said at least when I do get to take the time, the luxury is nice. One point to make is my straight shave being a newbie compared to most is not fast!

A DE is a fantastic tool for that quick shave when time is essential.
I tend to use them in the shower when I suddenly have to go somewhere and don't wanna look like a hobo
I can do my head and face, two passes worth, in just 3-5 minutes with that approach.
    Great little time-savers they are

I use a DE when I am running late and that is fine since I have some that I really like and I get to use one of them once a week or so. While the DE is a very efficient contraption, every time I use one I appreciate the simplicity of the straight razor that much more.

In the early days of my straight razor use it would take 45 minutes for me to complete a shave. The lather would dry on one side before I finished the other. Eventually I got to where I can do two passes in 10 minutes without rushing. Practice makes perfect.

Jimmy I am having that same problem from time to time with the soap drying on one side before I get to it. As I am learning it is not happening near as much. I know practice makes perfect but dang I can only grow hair so fast LOL

I use a Feather ac ss when I'm in a hurry or traveling.

It's easier to do a quick(er) shave with it since It's easy to do a two pass bbs with it and you don't need to strop it(still have to dry it though).

It will get faster and better. One thing I did back then was use the DE consistently for the knob of the chin and a few spots on the neck. Did that for the first few weeks until I finally got those areas figured out with the straight.

This for me, too. It didn't happen overnight and trying to rush the experience didn't work.

Enjoy your DE when you must and your straight when you can. The beard always comes back.

I used a DE before a straight so I've been at it a while.

Like the others I reserve the DE when I'm rushed or preoccupied. The actual DE shave probably takes me between 5-10 minutes and that's with two passes.
