Thanked: 3225How do you use it? Just like any other DE is the short answer. To find a starting angle put the head flat on your face and slowly rotate the handle downward till you just start to feel the blade. That should give you a good starting point.
I would start with the dial set at 3 and work up from there a notch at a time. When you get to a setting that is uncomfortable back off one number. After you have used it at that setting for a while you can try going up the numbers again to see if your technique has improved enough to let you do so.
Do NOT adjust the razor unless the doors are opened up a bit. If they are not opened up a bit it puts strain internally on the adjusting mechanics. You could damage the razor.
You could also get a sample pack of blades to see which you like best. A setting good for one make of blade might not work as well with another make.

The higher the number the bigger the gap between blade and safety bar making it more aggressive. You should be OK using as light a pressure as you do with a straight. Just the weight of the razor and the handle is for guiding it not applying pressure.
