    Default Full Blades/Half Blades

Alright guys so I've completely run out of full blades for my Safety Razor, but I have a box of 120 half blades that was given to me (they didn't know the difference between half and full blades but I still appreciate the gesture). So will my Safety Razor still do the job with two half blades as apposed to one full size blade? I am attaching pictures to better explain what I mean.

It might work, I would be afraid to try it...
In theory it should stay put, but I would worry about the additional forward and backward movement could cause the blade to advance and retreat.

The clamping pressure of your TTO might be enough to stabilize the bade...but it could be a painful lesson.

If you do decide to be a test pilot please let us know how that goes..

And there may be someone on the forum who has done this.
Or at least there is a Canadian Shavette user who can offer you a trade.

It's a matter if there is any play in the blade. Also if the geometry of the blade is different than a normal double edge.

I have used a half blade in my safety razor and it worked. The blade that I used pushed back from the opening slightly, but I was able to still get a good shave. The blade I used was a Derby blade that I used in my shavette. I only used one half of the blade and not two. Like above I would check to make sure it doesn't move too much since the DE I used was a Gillette Fatboy.

I am thoroughly surprised at how close of a shave I just got. Worked great. Go ahead and try it just make sure your blades are secure!!

If the razor locates on the corners of the blade instead of exclusively with pins: there shouldn't be too much an issue. Your TTO looks to have the hangar door hinges locating the corners.

Looks kind of scary. Seems like a good opportunity to look for a shavette. The parker SR1 uses the half blades. Parker SR1 Replaceable Blade Straight Razor | Trinity ShavingTrinity Shaving
