Lastly, I wipe the razor dry with a bathroom towel (carefully avoiding to shave the towel).
To remove soap residue when changing blades: nail brushes work nicely too.

After a shave, I rinse it, shake it, and put it away.
When I changing the blade, I remove the blade, give the razor a dry-brushing with an old toothbrush to remove the caked-on soap, and then insert the new blade.

Rinse it good, shake it good, store it good. When that puppy starts getting scummy, take it apart and clean it good.

i shaved with a slim for years and used to just rinse it under hot water. shake it, and put it away.

I later used plastic disposible single bades for a long time, but went back to DEs when I rediscovered wet shaving. Using Merkur Vision, 34G, and 37C, I found that these alloy razors resisted the start of corrosion better if I removed the blade, rinsed, wipe dried, blew moisture out of crevases, wiped and reinstalled the blade.

I also reacquired some plated brass Gillettes. Using the same cleaning routine, they stayed much cleaner than when only rinsing and shaking the razor.

I consider the enhanced maintenance indispensible with alloy razors for their longevity, but mostly a cosmetic convenience for the Gillettes.

I just give it a good rinse and a couple shakes then stick it back in the cabinet. When changing blades sometimes a bit more cleaning is done.

Good advice. Found CIF Bathroom Ultrafast. Will begin to use it. Weird question, but how often do you guys replace the toothbrush that you use to clean the safety razors with?

When it's not being effective.

"CIF bathroom" for me usually means "abrasive". Hope yours isn't, cos that stuff will damage plating on razors.

I don't remove the blade or loosen the head until it's time to change the blade. Between shaves I just rinse the razor under hot water and wipe it dry.
