Thanked: 0Sideburns
How do I shave the sideburns so that they are the same length? I had trouble before when using a cartridge(one was longer then the other).

I use part of my ear lobes as a length guide and do alright. Hopefully, your ears are parallel to the ground.

In the old days barbers used a straight to do the sideburns. They used the ear as a guide and would initially notch the sideburn as a reference point to make sure both sides were even.

No person has a symmetrical face. That said, The posts above give the answer. A good adjustable shaving mirror helps do the eyeballing. On line these and others are quite inexpensive.
If you shave with a spike toed straight razor, watch for the ear lobes! Nicked one this AM with a new Kamisori.
Good luck time will work it out for you.

Thanked: 1184Draw a straight line with a sharpie on your mirror using a level. Then keep your head straight or lean the same amount on both sides while shaving. It might also help if you hold the level in your mouth to keep your face perfect. You can't just use your ears because 1 hangs lower than the other.
If you think about it ...WHO would ever notice unless your off more than an inch :<0)Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

who really cares if they are not perfectly even? Not me but I do use an electric trimmer to set the line and then use the SR to finish
