Thread: 1975 Gillette V1 New Old Stock GREAT Short handle wonder! Made in England.

So I bought my first brand new safety razor. It is a 1975 Gillette V1 short handle. And I got it from eBay for 13$ new. Now I got into the safety razor thing because I sent my straight razor to Lynn Abrams to be repaired. So not wanting to go back to disposables in the interim I went to a vintage store and got a safety. And then I went to eBay and found this one new old stock.

So it arrives in the mail and I excitedly opened it, put in a Renewal (Israeli made Rite Aid pharmacy brand) blade, and shaved. And I got a great shave with no nicks. I found it easy to use and a pleasure to shave with, even with the very short handle.

Anyway here are photos of it, and also comparison photos with the used safety that I got from the vintage store.
