    Default Darwin Hollow Ground SE

I thought this might be of interest - I guess hollow ground blades were a stepping stone between straights and DE. I've taken a few photos to show how this ingenious set works:

This shows how the razor is stored - you can see a blade holder in upright position, this lies flat for stropping.

    The razor assembled for use

    Other photos to follow.

The handle can be screwed into the side of the blade for honing. The scredriver fits in the base of the handle and is used to adjust the screw in the blade to increase blade exposure

Sliding the case backwards and forwards causes the blade holder to strop in both directions. The strop has two sides - Coarse and Fine.
My service is good, fast and cheap. Select any two and discount the third.

Very similar to the Rolls Razor, which is a bit more common than the Darwin.

You done good! They are first class items; twice the quality of the Rolls, hone the blade with tape outside the kit and then use the built in hone.
As scary as they look, they are really easy to like for shaving! I've used mine quite a few times.

I used it for one pass this morning - it needs a bit more work on the hone but felt comfortable and the angle was easy to find. I have a similar Heljestrand seven day set where the hollow ground blades are in much better condition so I need to get the Darwin blade up to that standard.

I have passed on a couple or three much to my regret. If Geezer says they're good, they are good.
An old post, but that looks like a beauty Rob.
