70's Gillette Spoiler Super Stainless Blade
I just finished my 10th excellent shave with one of my remaining 70’s Gillette Spoilers Super Stainless blades. I was using it in my Gillette NEW Short Comb. All ten shaves were smooth, close, and nick free. I never had even a hint of a tug. They did know how to make great blades that lasted. I believe they intended for them to last a full week. Prior to this run I had used them for 7 days.

When Wilkinson came out with the first stainless blades, probably in the 60s (I'm thinking) they advertised 10 shaves guaranteed. I remember my dad used them and he got way more than 10.

I've posted this before, but I started with Blue Blades. They were horrible AFAIC. When Gillette introduced the Super Stainless, and the Platinum Plus, they were more expensive, but worth every penny. I don't recall exactly when I found the Wilkinson blades, but IIRC they were as good, or better, and cheaper by a few cents than the GIllette. OTOH, it was a long time ago, and I may not be 100% accurate in my memories.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I, too remember the Gillette and Wilkinson blades I used in the 70s were IMO much better blades. Granted I was younger and my beard sparser, but that is the way I remember them.
But I just finished my 6th shave on a Personna Med Prep, and it was wonderful. Not bad at all, really.Mike

I can also easily get 7+ shaves from a Personna Med Prep in my NEW Short Comb. Great blade!
