Gillette black beauty - problems with blade ?

Strange, the blade is a little bit 'crooked' when fitted - I can't find a more proper English word for it, look at the pictures.The blade has more air beneath it on one side then the other, if I turn the razor over you can see it is the same on the other side.

Do you have a black beauty ? does yours look similar when blade is fitted ?

Well that does look off... I know there's a guy on B&B that adjust some of those guys gilettes mostly slims and fat boys capnmurphy he does some you tube videos of repairs and rebuilds too knew on here to know if anyone here does it

My slim and fat boy look exactly the same if I adjust the blade setting with out first opening the bay door a bit. Did you change the dial setting with the blade doors locked tight?

I tried to open the doors a bit and then adjust and then tighten it up again and it is still off but it perhaps got a little better but still easy to spot.

I would open the barn doors more than just a bit before I make a setting adjustment. The adjusting mechanism can be damaged by making adjustments with the doors closed tight.

This is news to me, I can't remember Gillette had a warning about this in the papers that came with the razors either.

It could be adjusting with the doors closed (although I learned to shave with one and don't remember any warnings) or sometime in its long life it may have been dropped or banged into a sink (many were). Back in the day they cost less than $5.

They very well may not have had warnings. I recall reading either one one of the other shaving forums or on a site dealing with Gillette collecting. This might explain it better in post #8 Tips for 1st time use of a Gillette Slim | TheShaveDen .

I cant speak for all Gillette or know what the company's literature has to say on the mater. I can only tell you that I have blade alignment issues 100% of the time, on the 2 samples I own, if I adjust the razor with the TTO locked down. Shame that didn't fix the issue for you.

I have also read threads on other forums where people have pried up on the safety bar using a screwdriver at the end that the gap was bigger to even it up. I have not done this and neither am I suggesting you try to do this. Just FYI. Could be this is caused as Harold has said in post #7.
