Got a "New" 195 Fatboy
I finally have a Gillette Fatboy. It is a 1961 G3. I had my second shave with it this morning. I have it set on 6 to compare with my Slim on 6. The Fatboy is more aggessive on 6. It also requires a different angle which is easy to adjust to. I have had two superb shaves: smooth, close, and burn free.
It has the original plating, but a previous owner had it tuned-up and polished by Razor Emporium.
I am going to like this razor.

May your lather be moist and slick, the sweep of your razor sure, and your edge always keen!

$1.95 - the original selling price
Haven't really made up my mind about Gillette Adjustables, but I seem to lean at the moment more towards the Slim or Super Adjustable than the Fat Boy.
At least these are the ones I reach for more often.
Out of the three, I found the Fat Boy the least aggressive (all set to around 6) with Astra, Feather, or more recently Polsilver blades.

Thanked: 7Got a "New" 195 Fatboy
The original name for these razors was Gillette adjustable. These sold for $1.95 at the time, so people used to call it dollar ninety five. Then evolved to fatboy, etc.

Nice get!
I watched Dad shave most of my life with a one of two Gillette Fat Boys (one gold, one nickel); all I knew back then was it seemed very old fashioned. No idea what happened to his gear after he passed but, if he went Fat Boy, he must have thought it was the best there was. The old man was very particular about his shaves.
After looking for a good while it was a near-perfect Slim Adjustable that came my way. Prices for Fat Boys just got to high for me to take them seriously. But, one of these days...."We'll talk, if you like. I'll tell you right out, I am a man who likes talking to a man who likes to talk."
