Thanked: 23Roger
Received my French Roger razor this weekend.
In a way I see shaving with wedge/hoe blades the 'closest thing' to shaving with a straight razor - without using one
Happy to see that it was in even better condition than the photos on the bay led me to believe - shiny, no scratches or plate loss.
The two Roger wedge blades have seen better days so I may or may not pursue having them honed - or simply use some of the others I have.
The stropping handle attachment fits securely into the end of the handle.
The razor and box
The razor w/ no blade mounted
The original wedge blades that came with the razor are in so-so condition.
The clasp at the back of the razor is holding the blade firmly in place

Not yet - it just arrived yesterday.
It might actually take modern SE blades but I prefer to use original wedge blades that you hone and strop and I got four of those out for honing right now so will wait until I get them back.
I'm on a mission to go through ALL of my razors this year (about 70 of them) - which is now being made even more difficult as I've now discovered I rather liked straight razors as well
So far the progress is as below.
(Any razor not getting at least an '8' is most likely up for being sold off at the end of this year)

Nice find! You are never going to get through your list if you keep bringing new ones home...

Thanked: 67That is a cool razor. I've used some razors that are pretty similar, but I tend to try and use disposable SE blades if possible. The Original wedge blades are a pain to hone and strop.
Still, I understand the urge to keep things original. I'll be curious to know how it goes with that razor.

Thanked: 498Love it Darkbulb
I'm always amazed with the engineering in those old safety razors, not to mention the sheer beauty of them.
