Thanked: 5I am actually trying to teach the old dog new tricks. He has been shaving once or twice a week because it has not been very pleasant experience for him for lack of better words. I am hoping to show him how much fun, and how much more comfortable shaving can be.
Personally, up until turning 30, I mainly used water and a double blades razor because I did not have much hair to shave. I have tried a Gillette cream and a boar brush, but did not keep up with it because I did not know the "right" way of doing it, and gave up. The shaving foam was not much more comfortable than water for me. From 30 and on, I started to get way more facial hair. Because shaving became a bit painful at that time, I started to delay shaving. Since I became serious with wet shaving, I cannot seem to grow enough hair quick enough to shave. I hope I can help "open" my dad's eyes.

I'm happy you could convert your father, every time I bring it up to my old man. He just blows it off, and shaves with his Mach 3 and plain water. He's only 58.... and used a Schick injector for the longest time but not anymore

Thanked: 5I maybe seeing my father this weekend. My mother wants me to sharpen her knives. I will take a small container to press the Arko stick in it. I think it will be easier for him to use. I bought him a Nivea cream yesterday. I will also take samples of the various creams I have. Honestly, I don't think he cares much (so far) as long as he gets a good shave. He seems to care more for aftershave lotion.
