Default Closed comb vs open comb.

I guess I will keep it simple and short. What does close comb and open comb mean on a DE.?

it refers to the safety bar (the bar under the edge of the blade). open comb looks just as it states, like a comb. closed comb is probably what you are used to seeing on a DE, solid all the way across.
i believe the open comb razors are more aggressive. never tried one though.

Really funny you asked. This very night I sent a PM to someone I know has a lot of experience with both ...... I do too ....... but I don't really see that much of a difference. Anyway .......... neither does my friend BTW ........... Stole these photos off my friend Google , a bar guard and an open comb.

    Hirlau and jfk742 like this.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks...those are some nice looking razors in the picture. I guess the picture tells a 1000 words open comb that is.

Not all open combs are aggressive, just as not all closed combs are mild.
