Thanked: 28Closed comb vs open comb.
I guess I will keep it simple and short. What does close comb and open comb mean on a DE.?

it refers to the safety bar (the bar under the edge of the blade). open comb looks just as it states, like a comb. closed comb is probably what you are used to seeing on a DE, solid all the way across.
i believe the open comb razors are more aggressive. never tried one though.Last edited by tintin; 10-27-2015 at 01:20 AM.

Really funny you asked. This very night I sent a PM to someone I know has a lot of experience with both ...... I do too ....... but I don't really see that much of a difference. Anyway .......... neither does my friend BTW ........... Stole these photos off my friend Google , a bar guard and an open comb.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 28Thanks...those are some nice looking razors in the picture. I guess the picture tells a 1000 words open comb that is.

Not all open combs are aggressive, just as not all closed combs are mild.
