Multiple Razors - Why?
I was just curious; if you find a razor that you really like, and it's your favourite, you'd probably use it exclusively. I started out with a Merkur, which was great. Then as I progressed, I thought I'd try a few others. I purchased the Parker, which also offered a comfortable shave, and then a Gillette "Slim" adjustable. No matter what, I always came back to the Merkur. Now I use a Future exclusively. So other than esoteric purposes, or as a "shaving" museum in your bathroom, why would you own several different DE razors? I mean, if you have a favourite that your going to use all the time, why purchase others? I can see having multiple straight razors - alternate days, but DE??? I guess the same question arises with soaps. If you have one kind that you enjoy the most, why would you have multiple shaving soaps? I guess the same would go for after shaves.

Thanked: 56Different DE razors have different levels of aggressiveness, which may be more suitable for one shave vs another.
Soaps and aftershaves are different, and you're assuming that people use the same one day in, day out. I have favorites, but I still like to mix it up regularly.

Thanked: 55Do you always drink the same beer, eat the same meal every day? Different scents of soap on different days is enjoyable. Trying new razors is fun, there may be a favourite you come back to, but that new one may be better, why not try it and find out?

Thanked: 3227It is the difference between "need" and "want". I reality I only need 1 razor, 1 brush and 1 soap/cream to get a fully satisfactory shave. Personally I want variety and like to collect so I have multiples of everything. It really depends on your personal outlook on life and what you can reasonably afford to do. There is no advantage or disadvantage to doing it either way.

We do variety because we can.
This is not a cheap hobby. As your knowledge grows so does the appreciation for different makers and types.
It would be next to impossible for me to select one razor, brush, soap and strop to use everyday, forever.
The minimalists in this hobby are few.If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Thanked: 433I think lots of us get into this and just buy everything to find out what works best, I know I did. I also love the hunt for vintage razors. I wish I could be a minimalist!!

Some one has to own them, care for them, shine them, use them, and put them in dark dry places to pull out and look at feeling proud and conquering.
