A really well made razor and a shave that matches its standards. I can easily get 10 days worth of shaves out of one blade. And not like other single edge razors the Mongoose accepts a lot of different blades. In addition very shortly there will be the AlumiGoose which will have a slightly smaller head and because it will be all aluminum a lighter razor at a much lower cost. These razors can be bought only at Maggard Razors and Straight Razor Designs as Mongoose is no longer selling them direct.

Ed, the new "old guy", reporting here. I'm waiting for my OneBlade (arriving Wed. 3/9), meanwhile I did my second shave with my Mongoose, Feather Pro Blade. Only needed one pass on all of my face except the neck area, where I did a second pass. BBS! This is a real darn good razor! Can't wait to compare it to my OneBlade! Stayed tune!

It took me a little while to figure my Mongoose out. Once I figured the angle out, I started experimenting with blades. I ultimately settled on the Feather Pro Super blade. I now get consistent two pass BBS shaves. This razor is staying in my rotation.

I am selling my " high polished" mongoose in our miscellaneous classified section. I will be keeping my satin finish model and my Alumi-goose.

I received and love my OneBlade! I still have and use, my statin finish Mongoose and have put my name on the waiting list for the AlumiGoose. Also, for those that are interested, I have started clubs for both the OneBlade and the Mongoose/AlumiGoose on the Clubs and Brotherhood sub-forum on the Badger & Blade Forum.

    Gentlemen,

It took me a while to decide on the Mongoose, after my third one: It's a keeper. I am spending all week this week with the Mongoose to see how many shaves each blade will give me. Today it will be the third shave. Knowing my beard, I think my lime is five day. Beyond that, it would be stretching it. By the way, I use Feather Professional blades. Also, I tried the razor with various handles, including Jurgen Hempel, but I am back at the original Dr. Bomber handle.

Thank you Obie for your comments! I too am enjoying my Mongoose and have put my name on Maggard's waiting list for the AlumiGoose. I also use the Feather Pro blade, so far, but will be trying the Kai Original next. BTW, I am using an ATT Colossus handle on my Mongoose.

I have a 2nd and 3rd batch brushed finish Mongoose. I really don't like the Feather blades. First blade shave is harsh and needs a breaking. I get 4-5 shaves out of the pro. Gives a good shave but so does my Futur and it uses DE blades for half the price. Doesn't replace my straights. Just got a OneBlade razor and this is an amazing razor engineering wise. Not worth the price as far as shaving quality is concerned.
