Mergress DE Safety Razors
I was looking to purchase a new Mergress DE Safety Razor and could not find any available. Did they stop making the Mergress? Anyone with any information regarding the Mergress, please let me know what is happening here! Thank you for all your help! Ed

No you can't Russ. Lees Razor was the first place that I tried. They were "out of stock" and were not taking any "notify me when back in stock" requests. Amazon also is out of stock and says that they don't know if they will ever get this product again. Any other ideas? Ed

Thank you for the info, Bob! I am going to buy a new Merkur Progress Long Handle SR and then send it to Eric Maier who will then modify it into a "Mergress"! Eric is the person that does the conversions of Progresses into Mergresses. Ed

Lee's Razors does not have any and it doesn't look like they will be getting any soon. I got Eric's e-mail address, and e-mailed him. He replied that he is still converting Progresses into Mergresses and that he would convert one for me (of course I have to send him a Progress to convert). I ordered one from WCS today and will sent it to Eric when I receive it, probably next week. Will post the results after conversion! Ed

Thanked: 1079If you join B&B contact the originator of the mergress "mer" (user name) What he does is have you send him your Progress and for a fee removes the plastic adjuster and replace it with a stainless tip. The finished Progress looks great but doesn't do anything to improve the shave. The idea that somehow he adjusts the razor to perform better is a myth.
Or as was mentioned before wait until Lees Razors gets them back in stock. That is usually about every six months.Jerry

Thanks slantman! I talked to Eric Maier, the man that converts the Progress to a Mergress (he is also the man that converts Lee's Razors Mergress) on the phone tonight. He did say that Merkur has improved their Progress razors over the years and that he doesn't need to improve the razor's head in most cases. He does replace the plastic knob with a SS one and does inspect the razor, making any "fine-tuning" adjustments as needed. His fee for this service is reasonable and I plan on sending my Progress to him when I receive it next week. Thanks again for your help! Ed

Thanked: 30Yep. Dealing directly with Eric is the way to get it done. He was painless to deal with.
