Just replace nickel-plated by rhodium ir gold-plated stuff and check if it works. I'm pretty sensible to chromium myself and must wash my razors every time in denatured alcohol after stropping them on the green stuff.

Just treat yourself to either an all stainless (nickel free) or all aluminum or brass or bronze or titanium razor.

Actually nickel allergy is a very common thing. If you have it you have to watch out for not only nickel plated stuff but alloys that contain the stuff like stainless steel and some precious metals too.

My mother fought a rash on her wrist for years when she was a nurse. She finally had it go away when she got a different watch. Years later she decided it was nickel allergy. Doctors didn't seem to know as much about it then, at least she didn't find ones that did at the time.
